Just thought I'd write up some info I found out today regarding the electronic copy of the service manual I had read about on a couple of threads.
Those of us that bought the manual last year and early this year (unless you got really lucky) probably did not receive the companion CD with the e-copy on it. The part # did not change, the price did not either. I use printable copys as a rule because I don't like destroying manuals in the process of using them and I don't like wasting my time "tip-toeing" around, trying to keep them in good shape. Anyhow, the response from Polaris is that the CD version is not available as a stand alone item, regardless. Maybe this will help clearify this question for a few of us. In the mean time, I guess I have a "trashable", working copy and a fresh copy with eCopy to boot now. I'll be starting a Vision library.

Do they have a rational why some manuals had it attached and some manuals did not ???

Doesn't seem to make sense to me.

I ordered a manual the day I bought the bike, 5/30. Still don't have it. I'm planning a trip to the dealer tomorrow. I hope that and the chrome I ordered are in.

No rational provided. My only guess is greed. What's really bothering me about this is that it has become the trend Polaris has set and we've become accustomed to. Guess I'll NOT be bothering with the Polaris RZR that I had planned to pick up in December. Fool me once, shame on you... In the mean time, I'm invested in this bike and I'll ride the hell outta it.

You may want Polaris to know that your manual was missing the CD. If your dealer was thinking, he should have let you have their copy of the disc and ordered another for himself. I had a copy of the manual back in Oct of 2007 with the CD. Admittedly i was using the copy from work and loaded the electronic version on my home computer for reference and study. All Polaris manuals that i know of since 2007 vehicle have the CD in the back.

Thank you for the heads up. I think that I might persue this even though I've ordered another copy. Something like this may need brought to their attention. The response I got fromt the dealership I bought the manual from was that they didn't include the CD rom with any of the manuals until mid-year 08. That's obviously not true now I'm beginning to wonder if it was the dealership that botched this or Polaris. I dunno. Anyway, thanks again.

I was at the dealer today for an oil filter and pick up my service manual. Three months, still on backorder. So is the chrome rear brake master cylinder cover. BTW, the price has already gone up on the stuff in the 2009 catalog. $32 for the piece instead of the listed $29.95.

I've been waiting over a month for my manual. Getting tired of paying for thing from Victory with no ETA on delivery. Getting tired of getting the same form email from the factory about contacting my dealer. My dealer doesnt know anything because Victory wont tell them either.

Everytime I have ever ordered anything from Victory via my dealer, I have always gotten it in about a week. Same thing for the shop manual for my Vision. My manual did not come with the CD either. I asked the dealer to check on it, which he did, but he says that Victory says the customer version is not supposed to have the CD . He then offered to let me use his CD anytime I needed it . I would rather have had my own copy of the CD, but I do appreciate the offer. I wonder if those of you who got copies with the CD actually got the dealership version? Apparently, the part numbers are the same on the manuals, so what distinguishes one from the other? Is it possible to burn a copy of the CD on your home computer (I have the CD writer) or would the dealer's copy be protected somehow to prevent that? Yes, I know it is copyrighted, but I've already paid for the manual.............

Just borrow the dealers copy of the disc one time. When the disc auto starts, close the program. Go to "My Computer" and open the disc so you can browse the files. The PDF file that is named START, copy the file to your hard drive and rename it what ever you want, suggestion would be "2008_Vision_Srv-Manual" Now if you like, you can burn as many copies of the disc as you like or open anytime you feel like it when you are at your terminal.  The file is a little large to e-mail, it is roughly 37MB.
