After a number of near misses, I finally managed to mess up my vision yesterday. I left the house at 2:30 A.M. for work and at 2:40 3 deer had to run out onto the road. I managed to miss the first two but nailed the third one. I kept the bike up and was surprised by how little damage I did to the front end. I picked up the pieces and got to work. After sun rise I went to take a better look. It is still running with just cosmetic damages. front fender and lower wind deflector are both cracked. the left hand side leg fairing has one tab cracked up under the headlight and I might not even need to replace that piece. The chrome grill piece on one side is cracked and bend just a little by the headlight and the other one is cracked at the top under the headlight right near the mounting hole were the bolt goes to hold it in place. I started a claim with State Farm and I have a $100.00 deductible, so this really isn't that bad.

I have to meet with an adjuster next week. I started to put together put a list of body parts so that I do not get short changed. I can not tell if there is a piece missing from under the headlight or if it just looks different due to the missing fender. Can someone post a picture of the area under the headlight between the two piece grill pieces? it would help me if the poster also had the chrome grill pieces like I do.

I stopped after working a 12 hour day and the first picture shows the later part of the s bend that I came out of at about 45 MPH and you can see were the deer laid down and its size. I hit it about 15 feet further back onwards the bend. As you can see I had little room to react. the other pictures show what the front end looks like now. I tried to get a close up of the area I am looking for help on.

I plan on getting my new front fender from witchdoctors.

I don't have the chrome pieces, but I don't see any other parts under there. Sorry about the accident, but it's an awesome result since you didn't go down or get hurt. Shit could have been a lot worse. Shiny side up even while driving through a deer - well done, sir.

I guess that there isn't supposed to be anything there. Like I said before, the bike looks so different without the fender on it.

I completely agree that I came out of it on the good side. No injuries and I can still ride the bike too. Adjuster just called and said that the do not even look at bikes. I was instructed to take it to a shop for an estimate and they will cut the check to me after processing the paperwork. I am just worried about any further damage that might only be visible if you were to take the body panels off.

Photos photos photos. Cause your insurance is going to expect your bike to be totaled.... I hit a deer years ago in my car and they instantly wants to see the deer fur in the grill. . To make sure I wasn't saying I hit a deer (no fault insurance) and actually did soemthing else... now good thing there is not to much damage cause I had 2 PA insurance companies tell me this.. they would rather Total a bike and get it off the road , than have it fixed and something is "missed" and it then cause a even bigger accident $$$$.... they talked about liabilities and full Tort with PA insurance laws.

Hes right about totaling the bike. Its cheaper in the long run for them. Two weeks from not you could find a cracked fin or a bent floor board or a saddle bag lid crack. Not saying you do but you never know. Beside if they give you top dollar you could get a new vision when they come out in 38 days.

A total with a replacement is nice if you are running stock but are they going to replace my lowers, my heel shifter, my arm rests, my ATS, etc.? A new bike means lots of money to spend to me. Let's hope it does not get totalled.

You can take the accessories off and put them on the new bike. Wait and see what the insurance says. Take her to a good mech to get the quote, he/she will check her over carefully. Also check what the new bike comes with. It seems the new Vision come with less stock items now. Make sure they check the forks.
Glad you made it safely.

I have the appointment tomorrow with the Victory shop. I think that it is just going to be a few of the panels. I got slowed down a great bit. If you look at the pic with the deer on the side of the road you can see the front of my vision. I have been riding it since then without any issues. Looks to me like both fender pieces and accent, lowers, grill insert pieces and at least one side leg fairing will need replaced. Everything else seems to have survived the impact. I want the forks checked by the shop. I can not see them totaling this bike over some body panels if there is not any structural damage. I do appreciate the warnings but i am hoping that I can replace the broken/cracked items and be done. Even if they gave 13500 - 15000 a new one would still set me back a way and those numbers would be on the high side.

Snow's in Corapolis. I do a lot of business in their Chicora location but they could not take me due to vacations and what not. I was trying to get an appointment instead of a drop it off for a couple of days toe of situation.

Did you make it to North Star in Hermitage for the VOG chapter meeting last Tuesday? It was thier initial meeting but I had to work late plus they are an hour and 15 minutes from me. Bill is trying to get a chapter organized for the western PA/eastern Ohio area. I would love to part of it but I work the weekends and most if not all chapter business and rides would be on the weekends.

I got my estimate yesterday from a local dealer. $3600.00 in body pieces and labor alone. The shop wants the bike to take off the panels to look for any other damage before they order the parts that we know they will need to replace. this way they can order all the parts at one time. So I will be without the Vision for a while depending on how long the pieces take to come in. So the total may go up depending on what they find later. I do not think that there is any more damage. I just want it fixed back to the way it was.
