Harley Tube Cell - Not a Vision Video, but a Cool Robot tube cutting machine from HD
This machine is nice if you still design your motorcycles with tubular frames.
I do not under the statements at the end of the video about "accept new tube styles" and "product line change".

Posts: 261 Sugar Land, TX (Outside of Houston) | The best part of the last one (Robot Tube Cutter) is the first 15 seconds of credits that proudly say
"Vision Guided Robotic CO2 Laser"
Also, aparrently to perform quality control, the robot "Presents the Part to a Vision Box" for camera inspection.
So you see - It is a Vision Video
And maybe now Harley's won't be loosing as many parts.

I am beginning to understand now.
HD requires Vision processes and components to ensure consistency and quality of their vintage tubular frames. |

Harley Tube Cell ...I do not under the statements at the end of the video about "accept new tube styles" and "product line change".
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdN49ACj74k
"Accept new tube styles" just refers to the fact that you aren't limited to tubes that are, say, perfectly round and 2" in diameter; you can use the machine for eliptical tubing (for example...) and tubes of different sizes. This gives you flexibility to use the same machine for various product lines and changes in product lines. Product line refers both to a specific "product", for instance frames for Sporties and frames for 'Glides. Product line also refers to the physical machines that produce these products, like this Tube Cell machine.
So, an example of "accept new tube styles" and "product line change" would be if Harley decided to redesign the E-Glide with a larger oblong tube, they could just reprogram the machine to accept the new materials and changes in the frame's construction, as opposed to buying a whole new machine to make this new product.
Hope you can understand my explanation, rt. |

There is no doubt that the machine can cut just about anything its range of motion.
Arkainzeye,
I hoped that I misheard the quote. I knew the number was a lot larger then 6000. Thanks for clearing that up.

| The Harley Laser tube machine was built for the Vrod, coping the tubes to fit.
The video below is another line we built for Harley Sportsters and Dyna's. Enjoy (please excuse the cheesy music)
