I couldn't see myself riding this core bike for more than a few miles at a time. That seat looks really hard not to speak of the seating position and lack of everything that makes a bike comfortable. |

I think they should have focused on an entry level bike in the 700-900 cc range for new and smaller riders. They could have also put a fairing and a decent set of hardbags on a Kingpin for people that don't like the size or style of a Vision. Just my opinion........... |

Posts: 548 Mount Vernon, WA United States | Big Vic, you seem reasonable, so I'll ask... A lot of people seem to be treating this as a "bike" or "prototype" of a model to come, it's neither. At least it doesn't seem like it. I mean take a close look at this. Other than the curve of the fairing, it only vaguely resembles the bike that eventually came out. I think this is the same idea. It's just a concept to begin thinking about what the next Prototype might be. Might be a sport bike, might be a bagger, might be a chopper. I guess what I'm saying is I see this as engineers creating art to inspire idea's, and a lot of people are writing it off like it's a model of the next bike? Am I missing something? |

beer, what Victory has done here, just as they did with the Vision (which appearantly isn't everyone's bottle of beer with the numbers still on dealer's showrooms) is garner attention to their product line.
I like the looks of this one, think it will sell in limited numbers, but believe it's done everything they wanted it to do.
It's got enough attention a friend of mine who writes for several motorycycle and car rags sent me an early email showing it to me and he loves it. I'm guessing it will be in one of his magazines within a month. |

Posts: 3204 Memphis | A major advantage that the CORE bike has over the Vision 800 concept bike is the engine. The Vision 800 has the huge front body section with some little teeny pipes coming out and that R2D2 stand. It looked like something Polaris/Rotax would come out with, not Victory. The CORE has that giant engine wrapped in a minimalist, modern body. It is much more appealing to look at, even if you would never own one. It totally exudes that "Yeah, the cops know where I live." attitude. One phrase keeps popping up...bad-ass. |

Posts: 742 North Orange County CA | It looks to me like the idea might be to build a motorcycle that could be created from component assemblies.
Change out the rear subframe (eight bolts) and you could easily have a bike with a rear suspension and a traditional seat.
"CORE" could refer to the core components of the motorcycle. The core being the engine mainframe.
The rest of the machine could be configurable as you ( or the engineers ) desire. Suspension, tanks, fairing, wheels etc could all be designed to bolt on allowing Victory to build a custom motorcycle from a set of options. Or a an entire line from a set of component assemblies. A true model difference based on function rather than cosmetics.
Want a touring bike? Choose from these options.
Want a naked superbike - here you go.
Need more fuel capacity - No problem. Just bolt on a couple of larger tanks.
Interesting!

Yeah but both miles would be a blast! With that exhaust, this bike can not be ridden very long anyway. Can you imagine the HP to weight ratio on this thing? It would be the rocket bike of Vic line. Of course the final production model will look nothing like this and will be dumbed down to a less aggressive/dangerous bike so younger people can get it insured. I want this one, not the production model! |

Posts: 548 Mount Vernon, WA United States | I'm looking at the pictures again based on what Tarpits99 wrote, and damn!!!! It really does look modular. Good eye!! We could be guessing in the wind here, but that would certainly be "concept" to recon with. With the rear bolting on at 4 points, you're right. Everything from those "springer" style rear ends to probably a monoshock would work. I'm not seeing it to the point where the consumer could easily "swap" the parts... but from a manufacturing standpoint... WOW!! A basic "core" and the sky is the limit. |

I know it's a concept, and the modular idea is great. To me it's just trying to hard to look cool. As someone who often eats their words, I wouldn't be surprised in the least if I like the production version (if they do it) and end up buying 1. If that's the case, I'll start stretching my jaw muscles now, so I can fit my size 11s in there. |

Posts: 1340 Gainesville Fl Home of the Gators | Sure it looks cool, but IMHO it is a huge waste of millions of bucks; in the wrong direction. With the huge holes in Vic's model line it would have made sence to at least point the "concept" in the general direction of one. Throwing out an art bike was just stupid. Yes it shows a possible direction in chassis arcitecture, but come on. Rigid rear with a wood seat. What happened to form follows function?? I thought these guys were engineers.
Also hate to brake it to some, this thing is made of 5 pieces, and that means things like modular tanks are not really an option. Speaking of tanks. I am pretty sure it is UNDER the seat, and not in the back bone where the intake is |

Posts: 1484 LaPorte,Tx. | When I look at this bike, I only see the frame. I believe Victory wants you to see the CORE (frame) not the bike. The bike you see here is just bike stuff added to the CORE, I don't believe they put too much developement into the items they attached to the frame. I believe it could be the CORE to several different types of motorcycle. I look forward to what Victory does with this CORE.
I don't believe Victory will make an entry level small cc motorcycle. Not sure if they can manufacture one at their facility and make money on it. |

I'm trying to envision the potential consequences of selling an ENTRY LEVEL bike with a 106 ci engine, a dry weight of 450 lbs and no rear suspension.
Another generation of product liability lawyers are gonna send their kids to Harvard on that concept.
I hear the Victory marketing department channeling Jonathan Swift and Jerry Pournelle.
"I have a "Modest Proposal" for you! Lets pass them out with HS diplomas in states without helmet laws!"
"We can think of it as EVOLUTION IN ACTION! Only the smart, strong, quick, and lucky get to pass on their genetic code!"
Can you see the advertising?
"This motorcycle is more than an industrial design project it's also a social experiment! Two mints in one!" (Yo SongFan, heres a poster for you!)
I'm think perhaps I'll going to buy a couple and give one to all the boys that show up at my door to date my daughters. If they live out the week they pass the first test!
Personally, I love the thing what ever it is.
Too bad that I'm just too old to be comfortable on one, and too self conscious to be seen on one. I would feel like a billboard for mid-life crisis and after 5 miles i would be the poster child for spinal misalignment.

Posts: 1484 LaPorte,Tx. | This is what I told Mr. Song when I was at the AVR this past year. Build a light weight high powered V-twin sport bike and I would have to buy it. When I look at the CORE, all they have to do is bring the front rake back in a few degrees, bolt on a single swing-arm-mono shock, no BIG tire, bring the pegs back a tad, and put some padding on the seat. Get it up to ~120 hp and keep the weight down to ~400 lbs and keep the price in the 8-ball range. "Giddy-up" Anybody want that bike to run the Dragon or any other twisty. You talk about putting a smile on your face. This would be the second bike in my garage. |

The Vision is made with a much more advanced casting process. Sand casting is only good for very low production. Only thing Vic learned with the Core was wood carving. |

Posts: 129 Coastal , NJ | Being at the IMS show an hour after the reveal , I can tell you this concept did what it was designed to do - show people that they are a forward thinking company. I over heard more than a few conversations there. I then strolled over to the HD display where there were NO concept bikes . I really doubt that Victory spent millions on this. I'd actually be surprised if they spent over 50k on actually building it. It is a non running concept.
Talking to Mike Song about it only reaffirmed my belief that Victory is going to continue to build new, different and innovative bikes. Walking around the show in NYC I didn't get that vibe from any other manufacturer. It doesn't seem all that long ago that we were talking about the Visteon Concept bike. 6 years later we had the Vision . 9 years ago this was my touring bike:

Fountain Inn, SC United States | Well said Mark. While I talked with the Victory folks at the IMS, countless people asked, "How much will it cost?" and "When will it be available?" The Victory engineers as well as I answered countless times that it was a CONCEPT. While people contemplated the bike, engineers took down tons of notes on their responses. Victory is no dummy, they listen to their customers. The Core was the catalyst for customers' comments, and therefore cues for Victory. The Core should not be judged, it should be used as a launch pad to dream & imagine. In that way, Mike Song has done very well.
BTW, just because Victory shows us this exercise design, do not think this is all they have in the development pipeline. That would be severely shortsighted.
