Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | Well, not exactly. I working with one of my leather guys to make a leather dash pocket organizer. I've not seen anything running around like I have in mind. It will run the length of the dash with suitable pockets to put things like wallets and phones. Easy to put away while riding, easy to grab when needed or getting off the bike. He cannot give me a price but said it will cost over a $100.00 which I find reasonable and expect it to have that caliber of workmanship. With that said, he would like to make more than just mine if there is market for it. I believe there is so I throwing this out there for anyone that would be interested. I don't mind questions and suggestions, but it is not necessary to tell me that over $100.00 is too much at this point. If you're in, or have a COMPLETED better deal let me know, I'd be game. It will be all leather, with a rubber sturdy based. Covered zipper pockets that will be easily accessed, I can't say at this point it will be water proof, but I expect it to be water resistant. I also see having a "pocket" that will allow putting receipts, ID cards or other thin stuff, with easy access while wearing gloves. I'll build a paper prototype and he'll take it from there. I'm considering leaving a space to put a Satilite Radio receiver up in the middle and the pockets will be to the left and right. So if you are game, or want to share thoughts - PLEASE PM ME ONLY. I will not reply to discussions here on the post and expect it to me a one time thing, that will be moved to the trading part of the forum. I'm only sharing that I am having this done and will appreciate input by PM. |

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | Okay, I got a few responses that are interested. I figure most folk is interested but don't want to commit, and that's okay. I've got the rough, very rough draft that I'll toy around this weekend with. Basically, it is a five pocket organizer for the most important things that I feel I need at my finger tips. Phone, wallet, glasses, and change. But want to make the best use of the space for like registration and maybe any other small item like iPods or the such. I thought a soft leather may be good, but it may be better as one suggestion, with a stiffer leather that won't give a saggy look when not loaded. I'm going to talk that over with the leatherman this weekend, hopefully. If after our visit there is problems with the idea or too costly, I'll move to make it more simpler. I'm sure there is a ton of folk out there may be more talented or could whip something up, but so far it looks to be a very limited option. So I bring this post back up for you look in my gallery for the dash organizer rough draft, and PM me on any thoughts for this or whether you are game to buy one. I hope to have this made before the end of February, unless someone else comes up with a more likeable solution before then. |

You mentioned zippers would velcro be easier to open shut with gloves on
How is it going to mount I assume it will not get in way of windshield movement |

Posts: 374 Tucson, AZ | I tried a car visor organizer that i modified with the slip clips. It worked ok but depending on where the windshield is in height wind became a problem. Might not be an issue with heavier leather material. Great idea. I was also thinking of getting an extra panel thats between the consol and seat and fabbing something for it. Thought if i had 2 panels, one stock painted the other with a pouch, i could use one for trips, the stock one for just day rides.....dang they are expensive little buggers...............
