Thought I would share this in hopes of keeping any of you from experiencing the same costly problem.

Those magenetic tank and travel bags look great !. So great, that I purchased two of them for my new Kingpin last year. One for the tank and one for the rear fender behind my solo seat.
(I have the custom tribal paint scheme on the bike, but that doesnt affect the issue im about to
explain).

I went on a short half day trip mid summer last year with both tank bags for the first time.
I have to tell you what I saw when I got home made my nads climb up into my throat. For
some reason, the magenetic stips even protected by the layer of soft fabric between them and the
metal surface CAUSED THE PAINT TO RAISE UP ON EVERY PLACE THE MAGNETS WERE ATTACHED !!! Visually think of goosebumps all over the surface of the paint. I thought
there goes my beautiful new custom paint, here comes a new paint job thereby losing the tribal
motif. I walked away from the bike in the garage and couldnt look at it anymore for the rest of the day.. Well,,,, the gods must have known I was about to slit the wrists, because the next
morning, the paint had somehow smoothed out back to its original finish and you couldnt tell it.
Goes without saying i have never used either of the brand new tank bags again. I can only imagine what the result would have been had I left them on for a longer period of time.
Just thought you guys should know this as a potential.

This is normal. Has always appeared & dissapeared on my former VTX1300, and now my VN2000. Don't know the reason behind it?

It must be the dilithium crystals under the gas tank lid.
