Posts: 204 guelph ontario | I am sitting here tonight looking through the Forum and was browsing the on line users. As I went through the list it was interesting to see how many of you were residents of southern climates. I live in Ontario Canada and we have been having a very cold last few weeks. The ice on our local lake is now thick enough to drive a pick up truck on. It will be many months before I can ride the new Vision I just purchased. To all of you in the warm sun shine states. I wish you all the best riding and wanted to let you know how jealous of you I am. To ride all year must be great, especially on such a wonderful bike. Be joining you soon on the open roads. |

Posts: 1117 Northeast Ohio | I am with you guys, but we should have less miles (bikes should last longer) than them. Ok, that doesn't feel any better. They are calling for another 2-3 inches of snow here in Northeast Ohio tomorrow. |

| Living in central Indiana right now is a nightmare. I live in the country. Due to high salt prices, the county highway department is trying not to salt country roads. It warmed up last week, above 40, but my roads still had too much ice on them. I've only rode about 100 miles over the past two months. My wife and I think I suffer from depression when I can't get out and ride in the winter. |

Posts: 166 Bullhead City, AZ | Just saw the weather report for tomorrow they predict a high of 1, better than the -44 we had two weeks ago. Went crazy enough that I pulled the cover off and put the lugage rack on that I got with the bike. The garage was only minus 28 and the street infront of the house has 6 inches of compacted snow. This SUCKS! |

| Miles - 2009-01-26 7:33 PM Hey Gerica, head over to the Sydney ferry and come on down. It's still chilly, but the riding is fine. To get on the ferry, its a lot easier for me to catch it in Nanaimo and then head south.......Its a coincidence you should mention it, some folks in the riding club that I belong to are planning a trip to Leavenworth WA the May long weekend. I should have my Vision by then so that sounds like a plan! I will have to check to see if I am working or not. Even before that I will be heading over to Langley the end of March to take delivery of my Vision, I am sure that a little jaunt across the border would be necessary to help the breaking in process.......Ha Ha!! Hopefully the weather will be alright by then! After all the time that I have to wait, its either I take the ferry to the mainland to pick up my bike or they will be delivering me to the mainland in a rubber truck.......

| I put 150 miles on Saturday and the high was 34 degrees )
I lived and rode in FL for 7 months. How many times my brother would call on a Saturday and ask, "You're not out riding?" I would say it's too hot or the Love bugs are out. Also I would ride from St Cloud to Keenansville about 42 miles and never move the throttle. What they call a hill we call a speed bump. I rode with some guys from the East coast and their idea of riding is racing from redlight to redlight.
I rode out to Barry Motrosports to hook up with some other riders to make the ride to Plantsville bike nite. When I got there the owner came out and said, "I hate to tell you this but they canceled because it might rain."
So it isn't always better in the hotter climates. |

Posts: 849 , FL United States | I don't mean to rub it in but my S.O. Laura & I rode 250 miles roundtrip yesterday FOR LUNCH. Sorry We did have some rain on the way back but if you ride in Florida, you're gonna get wet sometime. It was a balmy 58* when we left @ 8:30 but got up to 74* by the time we returned home. Passed 20k on our ride yesterday - Vis was delivered 11-17-07. |

Posts: 19 Winter-St. Augustine Fl. Summer-Blind River Ont. C | Probie, I hear you! I am currently in St. Augustine Florida for the winter. We have a home in Blind River Northern Ontario and stay up there from mid May to sometime in Dec. We pulled out of there early this year (Nov 6th) and had to drive through 18" of snow with the Vision safely tucked away in the enclosed trailer. I talk to friends up there every week and know you have really been hit hard this winter. Not to rub it in but the wife and I took a 100mi. run yesterday and it was 65F. On the other side of the coin, the riding in Northern Ontario is some of the best. The ice will move out before you know it and then comes the black flies!! Where are you located in Ontario? |

| Florida really is terrible. Yesterday I started out at 8:30 am at 58 degrees and in an hour it was up to 70 degrees. As for good places to ride you would be suprised what the middle of the state has to offer. We all have good things and bad where we live but if you think Florida is bad your very wrong. I ride year around with a positive attitude and love it. Just checked the temp and it is 72 and sunny, I think I will go ride. |

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | Tuesday...A chance of freezing rain and sleet early in the morning...then rain...freezing rain and sleet likely late in the morning. Rain in the afternoon. Ice accumulation around a trace. Highs in the upper 30s. Northeast winds around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation 90 percent.
Central Va's weather report for 1/27. Hmmmm, to ride or not to ride. I heard these lies before, and rode without incident. Got to work before the stuff fell and it was gone by the time I got off work. Hmmmm.

Posts: 2118 Pitt Meadows, BC Canada | I know Florida is terrible - lived there from 97 thru 02. Roads are straight as a die, and there are no hills - well, maybe one 'sorta' hill at Boc Tower... , and it DOES RAIN. And it DOES GET HOT.
So Codfather, there is no jealousy here. A 30 minute ride here beats the hell out of a day ride in Florida. Matter of fact, I did an hour yesterday in sunshine and 34F weather. Cold but bearable - and sunny and beautiful. No jealousy here about any of you southerners.
Mind you, forcast is for 6" snow tomorrow.... but gone by the weekend. |

Posts: 204 guelph ontario | You guys if Vancouver have had a rougher winter than usual but it is still generally mild there and you get it much more or a riding season we do here in Guelph Ontario. Yankcan0 you are lucky to be able to take your scooter to Fla. I am well familiar with Blind River. Have gone thru there several times on both the scooter and for up north hunting trips. Black flies are bad in spring but after that its clear sailing. Back in 03 I rode my V92C around the great lakes crossing at Sarnia then over to Deluth and up to Thunder Bay and back down and around through the Sault, Sunbury and the ferry over to Tobermorry-one of the best rides available. This spring in May its back to North Carolina and the Tail of the Dragon and Blue Ridge Pkwy again-4th time-great riding there. |

| Hey Don To bad you hate Florida so much, because I love British Columbia. I would let you keep your bike here for the winter and maybe you would let me keep mine there for a summer. You think you know Fla. but you don't. We all have our favorite things, one of mine is to be able to ride year around. I don't like to ride for 30 min. at a time. Brithish Columbia is one of the most beautiful places on this planet but you need to be skiing in the winter, not riding our Vision. So Don keep your chin up, it will be warm in May or June. |

Posts: 2118 Pitt Meadows, BC Canada | Nah, I don't 'hate' Florida - I loved a great deal of what I did and saw there while living in Kissimmee. In the winter, I used to ride to work in my car in the cool morning, then go home for lunch and switch to the bike to work and back in the afternoon. Summers, I rode the bike in the morning, then switched to the car for the afternoon heat and rain. Summer rides are un-bearable.
I love riding, but in Fla. it is so flat - all you see is bush to the sides and road in front. Even driving the coast - you seldom see the ocean. And winding roads are just non-existant.
We are having a bad winter, but in past years I have seldom gone more than one week without a ride - so I keep the bike ready to go all year long.
Above 1000M we have winter - below that, cool and often wet. But just as often - sunshine and PARADISE! No jealousy here.... |

Posts: 172 Prescott, Az | Even though I live in Arizona, Prescott is 5200 feet so we get four seasons. In fact, as I type this, it's snowing hard. We can ride her most of the year but I'm a weenie and as soon as I get my goodies put on I'll drive it down to the warmth of Phoenix, 90 miles south and park it at a friends. I'll drive down about once a week in the cage then drive the Vision around the desert. In summer, northern Az is fantastic cycle weather with great rides. |

Posts: 1324 So Cal | I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pa. Loved the people and the town, hated the weather. Moved to Ca. 20 years ago. It wouldnt bother me if I never saw snow again. My daughter is an avid snowboarder, I have yet to go see her. Just the thought of snow makes me start to shiver. Even in the summer, travelling north SOUNDS cold to me.
Unfortunately, because of the weather, LA has changed. It is over populated with ignorent, ill-mannered drivers that are not aware of their surroundings when they are behind the wheel. |
