Alberta, Canada | Does anyone have any good tips for do's and don'ts when it comes to packing the vision for a camping trip? How much stuff can I safely pack on the trunk rack? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks. Trip planned for Toad Rock!!! |

Richmond, Virginia | There is a posted weight limit for each hard bag and top trunk. If you are riding solo you can add the solo touring bag which is HUGE
and will hold 2 weeks worth of stuff, mounts on the passenger seat in front of the top trunk,(then provides you with a nice tall back rest).
If you dont have the trunk, you can use it and alter its tie downs so it hooks to the passenger hand grips etc. If you are riding with
a passenger, then you are more limited. We took both of our bikes a couple weeks ago on a long weekend trip. I was able to pack the solo touring bag with clothing and necessities for two adults and didnt even need to pack either saddle bag with gear. This also allowed my better half to drive the second bike with no backpack or luggage since its a Honda Rune and designed as a one up bike.

guelph ontario | Pack light-you can always do laundry in your motel or camp ground. Often too much stuff is packed up too high in the trunk which can adversly affect handling. Some of us put these ugly bags onto the back seat area for extra luggage. Seems to me if you need to take that much stuff you might as well take the cage. I have toured over the last 40 years and never found it necessary to carry more than what can be packed into the bike even with the XL. Some crusiers types say if it doesnt fit into your pockets it stays at home. |

New Bohemia, VA | Not going camping, but plan on spending 3 days at Nags Head with the sweetie at the beginning of April. This will be our first overnighter and it will be interesting as she “needs” to pack a lot. We’ve got no trailer and since we’re riding two up it will have to fit in the trunk, rack and saddlebags. Me, I think it is no problem, but she might find it so. Maybe I can work on her now to pre-pack and test it out before I get disappointed and cage it. She doesn’t have “biker blood” just yet, so she expects convenience and comfort to come along everytime. |

Chris, I don't think your wife will have any issues at all on your trip.......but YOU may, better learn to pack light!    |

Regina Saskatchewan Canada | My opinion is for two up going camping there is not enough room for camping gear. I feel the only and best way to motorcycle with two up and camping is to pull a trailer. With a trailer you don't have to carry all that weigh on the back tire and it doesn't make the bike top heavy therefore maintaining the Vision handling characteristics. For the most part I don't feel the trailer affects my riding style.
Is that Toad Rock by Balfour, BC, Canada? I would think it's going to be awhile before they open up for camping.

Mount Vernon, WA United States | I have done a bit of motorcycle camping and two-up for more than an overnight isn't very reasonable on any bike, but again, I guess it makes a difference on what you pack. On my bike I carry tent, bag, pad, clothes, cooking gear, and snacks. I buy food near where I'm camping. If Lisa and I go together, we split the load between the bikes with one carrying the tent (a small 10x15 cabin) with the pads and bags and the other bike carries the cooking stuff, chairs and clothes. Neither bike is packed higher then the middle of our backs, and nothing protrudes wider than the saddlebags. It requires creativity and a little practice, but after 14 years in the Navy fitting everything into a duffle bag.... it's a piece of cake. |

Regina Saskatchewan Canada | That's great if your SO rides her own bike, if not camping is out of the question. The wife and I did a 2 week trip last summer and did the motel thing. We had lots of room for our stuff but very little room left over to bring back souvenirs. I have a Bushtec trailer hitch installed now and plan on pulling my trailer again this summer, camping or not. My thoughts are I would sooner pull the extra weigh than carry it. |

NW Illinois | I have tent camped 2 up on all the bikes I have owned, I to buy food when I get close to the camp ground or eat out
The best way to pack is think Backpacking go to REI or some other outdoor store.
Mummy sleeping bags with cinch bags under 2 lbs
You can purchase 2 man ultra light 3 season tents that are under 4lbs
Therma Rest makes a pad that roles up into a stuff sac 4"X9"
Do Laundry or ship home dirty laundry especially if you buy t-shirts on your trip
MSR pocket rocket stove will boil a liter of water in 4 min weighs under 4 oz
You can even get a Double Shot Press Mug if you want fast fresh coffee in the morning
Or yes a trailer would give you aprox 24 square feet and you can bring a few more luxuries

| Think about mailing your stuff ahead of time and mailing it home. Works great if you know where you are going. Last time I was at the buffalo chip the line ot the UPS trainler was long. I've over packed and/or pulled a trailer. The more room youhave the more crap you will take. Last year we visited the Homestead in Virginia and mailed our dress clothes and some other non-essentials. Managed to get the complimentary bottle of Champagne into the side bag on the vision for the trip home. What ever you do don't leave any safety gear, leather, chaps etc, behind like I did one trip. Bad idea. |

New Bohemia, VA | That's what I say BOUSA. If they take the bags and shape from there to include the taillight, that would be are good looking trailer IMHO. I would want it a tad larger than the shape of the bags to allow to haul light but bulky items, and the Vision could handle it. |

Bushtec makes a trailer that matches Gold Wing, hopefully some day there will be enough Visions on the road to make it worthwhile for Bushtec to design and make one to match the Vision! |

Boydsville, AR United States | I'm thinking of a Harrigan Trailer. The lines flow better than Bushtec. Looked at both in Sturgis, and both are fine trailers. The one wheeled one is harder to pull the bike off of the sidestand, and I wonder about slow menuvering. Hey Vision Bob, that set up looks good! What type of mount did you use for those flags? |

They also told me they were going to fool around with a Vision trike this winter. They have had a lot of inquires. He also told me they MIGHT work on a Vision trailer later. |
