Dealer are far and few between here. My nex oil change will be 20-50 mobil one ( they wrote the book on synthetics) and Honda oil filter (yes, Honda). The engineers were smart. They knew dealer would be scarce, and HD was competition, so...... |

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | AMSOIL 10-40 seems to work well in mine. I don't get that end of run chatter like I do with the Vic oil. I'll go 3k maybe 4k between changes. It still seems to like it the best under 3k change point though. |

It is also a product of Lube Tech; the company that makes Vic oil. Why is it that someone buys a bike, and suddenly feel they know more about oil then the engineers that designed the bike, and developed oils with specific properties for it?? More then just clutches to oil. Shear, temp absorption, and shedding are a HUGE factor in our motors. Along with all the other oil problems that most other bikes deal with |

Based on availability price and what I think is important to me I like the M-1 during warmer months as the engine tends to be a bit quieter at atartup and poved itself last summer on a 500 mile day above 110'. During colder times the Vic 20-40 worked out good. I have always cut apart the filter for inspection to check for abnormal stuff in it so far all I have found is wet media. Yeah! Availabilty of Oil and filters is a concern if a dealer is not near. I have found that the Purolator and the K&N have the largest area of media hence the abilty to flow more. I would rater pay the additional 1 to 2 $ for a full sytetic than a semi syn. |
