The Poconos | I spoke to Sue at Muth, a very nice lady, about a group buy.
Here is the skinny:
10 or more participants will get us a price of $186.15 plus shippung
For the mechanically challanged or those of us that just don't have the time, if you want them to do the mirror replacement it would be $186.15 plus shipping both ways plus and an extra $15 for labor. So $201.15 with the group buy. This would only include the mirror replacement of course. You would need to remove, rewire and reinstall the mirror assembly.
Please respond to this thread only if you are interested. Please no PM's or emails. It is easier for me to track the people this way. I also posted this on the VMC. Please respond to one thread only.
Let's try to get this done by 3/13. That gives you 3 weeks to decide. We will do it sooner if we can.

Posts: 935 Rockford, IL | Hmmmm....I thought Devilboy was the lead person on this group buy with Muth???? I thought he was the primary person who worked with Susan at Muth to start producing mirrors for the Vision. I know he was the "Guinea Pig" on the first installation. I think he even mentioned he was working with Sue to put together a group buy? Am I incorrect???

The Poconos | Marc was the guinea pig on this one. His pictures and write up are on the VMC. He did not have time to resize and post here before he left. Here is his write up. I do not have time to get the pictures up.
OK guys, They look awesome!! Hardest part of whole job is R&R 10 mm bolt behind center of mirror.
Easiest way to do this is to remove the two bolts holding front turn signal assembly so you can get access to bolt.
Other than that it is a straight forward job, excellent quality product well packaged and instruction are pretty good.
(better than any Vic accessory instructions I ever received.)
removing old glass is either easy or hard depending on your heat source. A hair dryer takes forever and a heat gun
works real fast. I was unable to get either out without cracking glass so I taped it so it didnt shatter or go all over the place.
I used Goo gone to remove remaining adhesive and then Isopropyl alcohol swabs to clean surface before sticking new mirror on.
The templates for cutting out slot for LED unit is right on. I used a dremel cutting wheel after taping template on and drilling pilot holes at all corners. This is somewhat time consuming BUT you real mechanics can probably do it better than me.
as far as wiring there is only one change from factory directions. I cut the LED wires(Black and Red) directly into turn signal wire. They are black, blue and pink/green. Black from Mirror goes to black and Red from Mirror goes to Blue. They provided lots of quality wire as well as top notch connectors.
Pix are attached and Sue at Muth Mirrors (SKohls@muthco.com) would love to hear from you. Ask her about group buy!!!!
Marc was the primary person and did work with Sue to get the mirrors started. I took the last sentence as encouragement to go forward. I went forward and contacted Muth and asked about the group buy. She gave me the information and I am passing it along. We talked about Marc's installation and she did not mention anything about Marc spearheading a group buy. I am not trying to take any "thunder" from him. I liked them and took the initiative. Jump in if you want. If not, don't. |

Posts: 296 Central Florida | It is no problem at all who sets up group buy.
Sue at Muth said I was the only person who had enough interest to call her and talk to her about project. I am glad that DirtyBubble took the initiative after I did the overture and initial install.
This is a team effort for the benefit of all Vision Owners.Everyone talks a good game until it is time to put up or shut up.
I find the VMC much more user friendly to me (especially with pix resizing) and I spend alot of time riding with other Victory Riders in Florida and the Southeast. I am in Gainesville FL this weekend visiting with fellow VMCers including KevinX and there is a free lunch and customer appreciation day at Polaris of Gainesville tomorrow.(exit 399 on I-75) When I get home tomorrow night I will resize all the pictures and post them here as a courtesy to those Vision riders who do not belong to the VMC. If any other VMC member wishes to resize my pix before tomorrow night and post them here, Please feel free to do so. I have no objections NOR do I care who does what. I do not need any credit for what I did, I did it for myself first and Sue asked me to document the process
for her benefit and the benefit of future purchasers.
Buy em if you like em They are awesome looking... |

The blue glass costs more on the Goldwing, which I would like a set on. Would that help as part of 10? (o:

The Poconos | I think we have 8.
Please reply to this thread or the VMC thread....but not both. We need an accurate count so we know when to submit the order.
I know one person has contacted Muth directly and I have no clue if they are counted in the 8.
PLEASE do not contact Muth until we get 10 and they instruct us how. |

| I just want to be sure of the deal....
Can we buy the blue glass replacements where all we have to do is remove the existing mirror glass, cut the hole, wire and remount the mirrors, all for $206.00 plus shipping?
If this is correct, count me in the group! |

I like this idea. Because it's highly possible the mirrors might break....for another $20 I'd rather order the new blue mirrors and replace them entirely.
Count me in for the blue mirrors (and I've already responded so don't double count me).
Thanks guys! |

Posts: 3204 Memphis | Placed my order for blue mirrors/red led's this morning. The salesperson, Denise, sounded genuinely excited about our order and said to be sure and take pictures for their website. Am doing the install myself and am justifying the savings to go buy a heat gun. Thanks to devilboy for being the guinea pig (with the great pics and suggestions) and dirtybubble for taking the lead on the group buy. Great job guys! p.s. If anyone else is interested but didn't get involved with the initial buy, you can order them at 800-844-6616. They will want to know if you want clear or blue glass, red or amber led's, and if you are going to do it yourself or send them the backing plates for them to do the install. Super nice company in Wisconsin.

Denise said I was #10. I gave her the credit card numbers, so all should be a go. I opted to have them do the labor, so devilboy, thank you for posting the pictures. It need to do some disassembly at home and send Muth a well wrapped care package.
I went with blue glass & amber LEDs.

I figured by buying the blue glass and getting it as part of the kit that will cut down on the dis-assembly time. These signals, coupled with the trunk lighting kit (Kury 4710) will make the bike VERY visible from all directions. Thanks again Mike. |
