Fountain Inn, SC United States | Just wanted to direct your attention to Lloyd's latest tech installment.
"He gives us the ins & outs of breaking-in the Victory motor. Whether you just bought the bike, or have just finished some major motor work, it's worth listening to what he has to say. As he put it, you either do a "Break-In" or a "Break It!"

Posts: 204 guelph ontario | It seemed to me that Lloyds article about break in was not really that much different from what the manuel for Victory states. I prefer Lloyds approach by far over that of Motorman whoes method seems a bit far out. If the Victory manuel was just for liability purposes it would only have to say to maintain speed limits. Since it is geared to proper break in it goes into far more detail about acceleration and braking etc. I have not heard of a decompression roll -on-anyone?? |

I should probably let Lloyd explain what he means, but I take it to mean running the bike up to speed under heavy throttle for a SHORT burst of speed, then letting the bike coast back down with the throttle closed. I've always broken in my new bikes with varying speeds and short, full-throttle runs in high gear, then coasting back down with no throttle. Always after having the motor fully warmed up first, of course. It has always worked for me, and my bikes have always performed well. Lloyd will set us straight, I'm sure.

Posts: 3773 Pittsburgh, PA | this is probably why so many vulcan 2000 owners had oil consumption!! they use the same coating in the engine. but no one explained how different it is! Now it makes sense... there are alot of damaged engines out there i bet. shoot i know 6 of them owners that already had rebuilds.... I cant even count the endless amount of people that start a cold bike and rev it to the moon and back to show off their pipes.. WOW! great article... |

| Thank you Lloyd. Good read.
So I need to change the way I run my bike. I normally start her up wait 60-90 seconds and ride. Maybe I should let her warm up a little more. Have to remember she ain't built like my car/truck engines. |
