In my quest to buy a vision I stopped by a couple of dealers on my way to Panama City Beach FL from Columbus, Ga in hopes to find a 09 black premium so I could check out the chrome as my local dealer only has standards. Bike looks good but I think Victory really missed the boat on the front forks. I cant believe that only the sides are mirror chrome with the rest of the forks being chromed over the rough surface. I think it really defeats the point of chroming them in the first place. Has anyone else noticed this and can this be fixed or swapped. All the other bikes had smooth forks except the vision. I am still going to buy one as soon as I find the right deal/bike.

I wondered why the texture as well when I first saw it, but I figure it is cosmetic so who cares. When mine get ratty enough to need something I'll probably have them done with anodized powder coating.
Now what I'm really curious about is how many folks have actually serviced their forks at the 15k interval???

I did! only to take off Fork Legs and Powder coat them black!
you dont realize how much the ride degrades until you service the forks.
I put synthetic 10W in and it should go 25K before service this time

Devilboy,

How hard was it to remove the fork legs and do you have pics? How much did it cost to powdercoat?

We had our forks done by Mike at Arizona Victory Tucson. The whole fork is mirror chrome and there is no comparison to the Victory parts. Noticed a huge difference after fork oil was changed. I agree with devilboy, you don't notice how the ride degrades until you service the forks.

I will back what kenandpen said above. They had their gray 2008 forks chromed and it looks far superior to the so called "Premium 2009 chrome forks.

When I saw their forks in San Antonio a few weeks ago I thought, "That is what chrome forks should look like!" The Victory 2009 Premium chrome looks like something you would see on a plastic toy in comparison.

Powder coating is the least expensive part($100). replacing fork seals($200 pr) and labor about 3 hrs
(took me longer- I am a backyard mechanic) and you need a spring compressor

I serviced mine at 15k & noticed much improvement. I didn't realize how much "dive" I was getting 'til the service stopped it completely.

I shouldn't have read this post, it's been 20k since I last serviced the forks, and thought I didn't notice the difference. But I think that in my mine it is not bad as the GL1200 dipped a lot on stopping, so in comparison even at its worse the Vision is not bad.

Okay, DevilBoy, you say I need a spring compressor to do the job?

If you want chrome front forks you need to contact John @ Cycle Dragon 562-468-1980. I think they get $150.00 per fork tube but you send in your cores. They are all polished out and chromed by a marine chrome shop. I did an exchange with them for my rear tip overs and the inner faring covers and after sending in my cores it was only $529.00. The rear tip overs are totally polished w/o the rough stuff on the top or edges like Victories. The inner panels are a step above the factory chrome also. I agree with you that the whole fork should be polished not just half assed. They also chrome the stock Vision wheels. Just some info. I am not affiliated with Cycle Dragon, just a happy customer. They shipped immediately and the nice thing is you can use their packing to ship your cores back to them.

I need to ride more. When my forks need oil I feel a replacement of parts will be required.

Same thing when I need a rear tire or front tire. Chrome wheels would be nice.

I wish Cycle Dragon would post prices here for the exchange parts. I would love to do some exchanges for Black Rear handles and Chrome rear tipovers.

You won't have much down time. They will ship, then the only down tme is how long it takes you to pull your parts off and reinstall their chromed parts. The rear tip overs didn't take long. Just removed the exhaust shields under the tip over, then the two small vertical bolts and the one large nut. You have to swap your floor boards over so watch the small ball and spring when you pull the clip and pin. Took 30 min. tops. The inner farings took a while since you have to take off the gauge trip, cnsole, tank covers, seat, grills and farings. That one took me about 3 hrs.
