Posts: 1158 Richmond, Virginia | Let me get it out of the way up front THEY LOOK AWESOME !!!
Ok, now that thats done with let me get to the pissy part.
Dear Arlen Ness, Your simplistic instructions arent worth crap.
Your instructions in step #2 told me to "remove the cotter pin, pull out the
bolt and remove the OEM floorboard PAYING ATTENTION TO THE POSITION OF THE FLOORBOARD SPRING". What you did not happen to say was THE SPRING WILL POP OUT
AND YOU CANT PUT IT BACK IN WHEN YOU REINSTALL THE FLOORBOARD.
BECAUSE IT WILL BE SPRUNG !!!
Guys, the install in itself is simple with the exception of re-installing the double prong
spring that keeps the floorboard down and stable. You cannot hold down 3 points on
a spring while inserting a bolt and holding the floorboard in place all at the same time.
Even two people cannot work in that tight an area. The actual attachment of the
chrome boards is simple, 4 drill holes through the existing rubber and the small bolts
attach the new on top of the old (takes 5 minutes). Its that darn spring that is the pain.
Without losing my temper or throwing something, i decided to put the new boards on
and let my dealer with their "precision tools and know how" figure out how to engage
the springs.
Is it worth it aesthetically? YES, will it frustrate you YES unless you guys have a solution
to the spring deely thing that I couldnt figure out.
If anyone wants to see photos of the Ness Chrome Floorboards installed on my Black Vision Street Premium, please email me directly and I will attach photos in return.

Posts: 152 Bonita Springs, FL | I had my dealer install mine while I watched. You are correct very simple until you get to the spring. It took two mechanics about 5 tries to get the springs back in. I am glad I did not attempt to do it. Good news, you are right, they are awesome and really finish off the final look of the bike. |

Posts: 152 Bonita Springs, FL | Mine have been on for about 5 weeks, I ride twice a week for about a total of 400 miles. They look like new, and the chrome seems really good. They do have a lot of rubber round inserts that stick up above the chrome that seems to really help. I would buy these again with no hesitation. |

Posts: 1158 Richmond, Virginia | Cost from my dealer with my customer discount was like 229.00 well worth it in my opinion. Its just the spring clip buggaboo
that has me rattled. |

Posts: 1158 Richmond, Virginia | they should work with highway pegs, they sit on top of the existing boards and only raise your foot up about 1/2 inch.
My dealer told me the trick to the spring clips on the phone yesterday, will try it tonight once i get home from work. |

Posts: 3006 San Antonio, TX | Thanks.
Had a great ride today. I would miss the pegs if I had to remove them. I do wish the pegs were about 3 inches shorter.
The chrome floorboards look great. I might have to get them.

Posts: 172 Prescott, Az | I bought the pegs and the boards had to come off. I had a buddy who is real good with tools do this for me and he cursed and threw s**t for an hour getting those springs back in place. The pegs are great but I don't think I have a friend who is good with tools anymore. |

I've since bought him numerous meals at restaurants when we ride. I try to keep our conversations off of mechanical things. A sears card would have been cheaper for me but it would have set him off again. He's calming down some but will occasionally throw a fork at me. |

Posts: 1158 Richmond, Virginia | I got the answer on how to re-install the spring clips My dealership told me to place the spring in the base but lay it closer to the
engine side, then place the footboard in position. then using needle nose pliars pull the spring forward into position then push the pin back through. It took a few tries and someone else to hold the floorboard into position so I had two hands. Its annoying, but once you learn how to grab the spring with the pliars and have a decent grip, the pull just snaps it back into place. Beer helps too, both before and after. |
