Hartland, , WI | Had my first oil change by the dealer at 500 like everyone else...just did the second one myself at 2832 because after the first oil change you need to do it every 2500 miles right. Look at the service matrix in your little manual you get...first one 500, second one 2500, next one 5000, 7500, etc.
Isn't 500 + 2500 = 3000? Shouldn't the second oil change be at 3000, then 5500, etc? Just a typo? Oversight? Or is the second oil change really suppose to be after another 2000? After I had the first dealer oil change and inspection I have been riding around with 3000 miles in my mind for the next oil change. So I went to check it off and date the oil change I just did in my manual and notice the matrix. Believe me, I'm not loosing sleep over it  | |

Pittsburgh, PA | unless the second oil change they want the oil removed a little sooner for fear there will Still be metal in the oil from the engine still breaking in? Just a guess. Cause i know at 500 miles the engine is NOT done breaking in.. | |

New Bohemia, VA | oh come on now Vinner1, do I have to come up there and 'splain things to you cheeseheads? The oil change is every 2,500 miles, very simple, very, very simple. You just happen to do one also at 500 mile to get the extra break-in junk out. When I read your post I said "hmmmm he's right... naw he's a cheesehead... well, anyways, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Actually, that is a real biker questions as I was talking to a guy the other day who asked me how long I had my Vision and I told him 15 months. It took him a second for it to soak in that I had 35,000 miles on it. He first thought I said 3,500 because he don't know anyone that has that many miles on a bike in that short a period and even then most he knew only put on about a 1,000 a year. So those folk would have plenty of time to think about that question. | |

Rapid City, SD | With that math the First oil change would be at 500 miles with the next at 3000 (+2500). This is where it gets sketchy. The next oil change would be at 8000 going under the +5000 rule. The next being 7500 would in fact be at 15,500.
So to recap
500
3000
8000
15,500
25,500
etc.
Good luck selling that story to the warranty department when something fails.
I second the nomination for the cheesehead award.

When does 2500 really mean 2000?
