Edmonton Alberta, Canada | Well my Vision has had a long hibernation. I had it serviced mid Oct and then I washed waxed it and added fuel stabilizer to the tank and rode it around the block a couple of times to get it through the fuel system. With the longer days, I drove out to check on it. I have it parked in my enclosed trailer in a storage yard. Unlocked the the door and opened up and behold. Just like I left it. I remembered the key was hidden in the trailer, so I thought with eveeryone having problems with their batties dieing, mine would be dead for sure as there is no power to have a battery tender operating. I slide the key in........turn it to on.....headlight comes on just as poerfull as the day I parked it. Being -8C I did not even try to roll it over, but by the lights I know know when it is warm enough, it will start.
Now I did have the usual tire wear problem that so many have mentioned on this site, which I pointed out to my dealer and to which was, you are running your tires under Inflated. Well my bike has not moved, or anything for 5+ months, now I did not check the presures but appered to be very close to being jully inflated! I would think that if they loose air during the summer, they should be flat after 5 months? (I did not replace summer air with winter air when I parked it)
Well by the long range forcast, I probally won't be riding for at least 3-4 more weeks. Not bringing bike home till I can ride it as it was had enough just seeing it today. I would not be able to wak past it in my garage everyday.
Just wondering how everyone elses ride faired for the winter. |

Northeastern Penna. | I feel for you. Here in Northeast Pa. the winters aren't nearly as harsh as up your way, but they suck just the same. I've had the steel gray out 5 times already, since early March. Warmer days are ahead for all of us. Ride Safe ! |

Edmonton, AB | norcan....I share your pain. I did keep riding last fall until Nov. 30th. Last Friday it was looking like I might get out by the end of the month or very early in April but the storm we had last Sat night (6-8 inches of heavy wet snow) as set me back by at least another week or two...and that is if Mother Nature cooperates and really gets started on melting this snow.
First ride last year was when I pick up my Vision on March 28th. Right now I am going to be lucky if I can get my first ride this year on Easter weekend.
If you happen to be coming down through Red Deer some time let me know.....perhaps we can hook up for a ride. |

Edmonton Alberta, Canada | Newfie, i will admit I am a firweather rider, so never get in a rush int eh spring and park it early in the fall, Late September to most of October was cold, so parked early. Thanks for the invite, will do this summer sometime. I travel west ot mountains more, Have been known to go to Jasper for lunch now and then. lol |

Edmonton Alberta, Canada | Well to update about battery. Just rolled it off the trailer and into the garage. Wife was currious, or should I say, dying to hear it run, so I tried to start it. Battery was down a bit, but after a couple of tries it fired right up. Weather finnally getting to be nice enough to ride, so off to renew plates this week as all water should be gone by the weekend. ( No I did not disconect the battery for the winter, and now battery tender either) |

| Always tender the battery even if it is only going to be a few weeks.
I've been out riding since the snow melted. Rode about 200 miles this afternoon just joy riding. Started out low 40's but warmed to the low 60's... Very nice putt. |

Pitt Meadows, BC Canada | Right on with the 'tender' Teach. Longest my beauty went this winter without a ride was a bit over 3 weeks. BUT - tender goes on every time I park - cuz when it's time to ride - I know it will start.
Rode in fog, and in mountain snow - but with our heated equipment we were always comfortable. We run 2 electric vests, both seats, hand grips on, 10-CD changer on, front aux light on - and NEVER worry about battery.
Today - 65 F and sunny - great ride!!!!!! |
