Posts: 58 Saratoga NY area | Black is the best looking color when it's clean and has no swirl marks. This last for about 1 day unless you ride in an air bubble cover. My black vision shows every darn mark, swirl marks, and god forbid I touch the paint. I have a balck z06 vette and the paint/clear coat on the car seems to be more durable than this victory.
If Iam fortunate to paint the parts again, maybe I will go with something else that includes a mettalic so the marks are not so obvious.
I bought all the wax's, 3m swirl mark removers, microfibers, etc and they ALL don't work.
The clear coat on my 09 vision is horrible.
Thanx for the vent.

Posts: 244 Fargo, ND | I feel your pain. The factory clear on my 08 Midnight Cherry is just as bad. It shows every spot you touch it, and nothing short of McGuire's Step 2 Polish followed by Swirl Remover will remove the fingermarks and microfiber towel marks. The first time you wash it afterwards and look at it in the sunlight, you see every little fine scratch. I have to agree that they could use a different clear, perhaps automotive grade with a hardener.
Then again, maybe we're just more anal than the average rider, but I like my Vision to look as good as it can. |

Been trying all kinds of swirl mark removers but with no success either. It may look good for day then they just seem to come back. O'well I guess it is what it is. :-) |

Posts: 1290 Ruskin, Fl | Great photo. I went by the dealer to pick up all the new silver parts that need to be painted after my mishap. The thought crossed my mind to to take all the front fairing parts with me and get them done since the were off the bike. I decided that would only add to the down time and just took what had to be painted. My paint guy is using CC5020 clear over factory black base. Claims it's top quality clear coat. |
