Posts: 127 OHIO | It just happened. Door will not stay shut even with the ignition in the lock position. With the door open and turning the key to the lock position you can see the lock rod move out, but when you shut the door it does not hit the lock rod. I would think it should hit the lock rod, thus not close when you have the ignition in the lock position. I shut the door and it just pops right back up. |

Posts: 127 OHIO | Varyder, Thanks for the reply, but my door looks fine. It doesn't matter wheather you lock the door or not, it pops right back open. To me it looks like when you lock your door, the locking pin slides through a small hole in your door. My locking pin slides back and forth with the ignition switch, but is not going out fall enough to go through the hole in the door. If it would go through the hole in the door then the door would stay down, but only with the ignition locked. I guess I may have to take the center console off to take a closer look at the switch. |

This is going to sound silly, but it almost sounds like you tried to shut it AFTER you locked the handlebar. It won't shut this way. You probably know that, but I thought it was worth typing.

Herb Your right Herb. It does sound silly, and no I did not do that. Thanks for the thought Herb. My door will close down even with the ignition locked. I do not think it should close with the ignition locked and the door open. The door should hit the locking pin, but mine does not. |

Sorry if this sounds stupid, but is the piece that latches into the pin lock still attached to the glove box door?
Anyway of taking a picture and posted what the tab looks like?

Posts: 127 OHIO | Member No. 1, I think you meant me, not G1nomad. The underside of my door looks fine. I will take pictures as soon as I build up the courage to open the door again!! And no it does not sound stupid, and that goes for everybody's replies! Thanks, |

Not sure if this will help, but here is a link to some close up pictures I took of the latch and catch.

Posts: 127 OHIO | Member No. 1, Thank you very much for taking the time for the pictures!! I think I have 2 issues going on. In picture (catch 1) your locking pin looks like it is even with the hole for your door to go into. Mine is back slightly, and I think that is why my door will not lock. I bet if you try to shut your door with the ignition locked, you will find that you cannot. My second issue is the where the door latch goes into the switch by the screw. When my door is open, my switch pops up (like picture 2 or 3). But when I shut my door, the door goes into the switch, but the switch will not stay down with the door in it. It you can gather what I am saying. The switch will pop back up, thus releasing the tab on the door. |

Posts: 257 Under the Rule of Jedi - Masshole | You are correct, you shouldn't be able to shut the door if you lock the ignition first as the locking pin is in the way.
I understand part two of your question. My question to you, if you push down the catch by hand does it stay down or pop right back up? If it does then it sounds like you have a bad catch.
Hard to trouble shoot over the internet! Can you email your bike to me so I can have a better look? |

This might sound stupid but check it out anyway, I had issues where my door would hang when I tried opening it (the pin was out too far) so I pulled the console off played around with the cable and slightly rerouted it, the reroute pulled the pin in enough that I no longer have an issue with the door. |
