Gettysburg, 2008 Tour Premium | I traded my '07 Ultra in on a Grey'08 Vision on Wed. Struggled with the 08-09-2010 decision but the incentives we just too good on the 08 to pass up. I have now owned what would be considers all the heaveyweight tourers and can say that this is the first one that I think I can retire with. Have never ridden a bike that handles this easy. I have to say I was hooked from the start just owed too much on the HOG to do a deal. I need to put some parts on over the next few weeks and hope with the help of people here that should be no problem....rack, side deflectors and GPS mount after I get a GPS. Probably do the antenna upgrade listed here even though I am not much into radio the weather stations come in handy while traveling. I spent so much time on performance stuff and tuning and tinkering with the Harley ( never 100% ) I am thinking of leaving this bike stock or maybe S1/L1 if the engine likes it. But that is down the road. For now having a bike that doesn't need something is a great pleasure. The Harley needed something on the ride home from the dealer by the way.

Kincardine, Ontario, Canada | Congrats on the new bike, I came off a 97 FLHTC and also found that this is one easy riding bike. More like a two wheel car. Having read some of the posts on how guys are having issues with backfiring and random engine shutdowns once they have done the S1/L1 upgrades I have decided to leave mine stock. I will probably upgrade the airfilter once this one is done, which does not require any engine remaps.
I mounted my Zumo GPS to the dash above the speedo and have the wiring running down behind the gauges. You will find a connector on the main wiring harness on the right side of the console. This is there for 12VDC power and the +/- for the speakers. The connector you will need is made by Tyco, Mini Amp Multiloc 7 pin male. I don't have the pin out handy but when you are ready to do it send me an email and I can forward it to you.
I'm holding off the on the side deflectors, I've heard good and bad about them. I can't see the engine heat being any worse than the HD. Most of the accessories are made by Kuryakyn, not world famous for their chrome quality. I had a few Kury pieces on my HD and won't be buying from them anytime soon.

scotts valley, California | Ya know, I bought my new Vision last July and have ridden about 13k miles. I love the ride and the way she corners, but I still have problems with my slow speed turns, like bar lock U-turns. It's like I have a mental block. The arthritis in my neck doesn't help, but there must be a way. Any suggestions? |

I used to be there too. The only way I fixed the lock to lock turning issue was to practice on it every day on the way home from work. When I go to work out there is one place to parallel part the vision but to do so I have to do a U-turn in 24 feet. The turn is not a problem. What is the boundary of the turn. It is not a painted line. On one side I parked cars. The other side is a curb.
Try taking the Experienced Riders Course by the MSF. I did it last week end and learned a few things,

San Antonio, Texas | Hey, Radioteacher Paul, Did you learn anything new at the advanced course or was it mainly a rehash and reinforcement of the basic course? I assume you took it out at the Shriner's Temple. I would like to take the advanced course, but I am hesitant about riding the "box" on my Vision. On someone else's 250, it was not much of a problem, but I really don't want to drop or drag my beauty. My lock-to-lock turns could use some work, for sure! |

Brighton, TN | Magic, I recommend that course, I just took the Advanced course and could do the box inside of 20 feet, the innermost two lines. It really isn't that tough, mind over matter. Best part about it, if you drop it at 5mph, you damage nothing. The Memory Maker 1 was spot on and I was running circles around anybody else in the class. I would have loved to have taken it with crotch rocket guys, just to show them how to do it. Turning your head and looking where you want to go and up. The farther you dip in to the turn, just let go of the clutch a little quicker to stand it back up. I got very good at dragging the pegs even in the box. I wound up dragging about a 1/2 inch off the highway pegs, have a picture to prove it. Should have raised them, even though I wouldn't have been able to get much further over. I had the most fun that one day on my bike, just riding it like it was a race bike. The instructors said we could go as fast as we wanted to so long as our pucker factor could handle it. I just kept getting faster. I keep trying to take a Harley guy over and he's also worried about the box and whether he can do it. Anybody that is military affiliated can of course take it at the base for free, normally.
