done a writeup with instructions yet? I'm in two minds about doing the direct wiring or electronic isolation relay wiring, any thoughts?

Teach,

I wired my Vision for hauling trailer. With the lights wired into your computer you need to use an isolator. I got mine form Dennis Kirk for about $50.

The load that the trailer will put on your system can mess with the computer. Isolator also insures trailer gets enough juice to operate correctly.

The best place to tap into the wiring is underneath the seat.

I bought a bushtech hitch which came with a isolation relay and instructions with pictures for the trailer. It was simple to wire in right behind the seat, at least for me. I always buy a vechile with a trailer tow packages, because if your trailer has problems, in the wiring, shorts, bulb burn out, etc, it will not effect the tow vechicle. You will not loose your blinkers, tail, or, running lights. A problem will take a fuse, which you can replace after you have found the problem. I have never had a melted a wire either and had to replace it. I have had lots of problems with trailer wiring over the years though. All in all, I would ALWAYS ues a isolation relay. If you do the research and take your time you can have a factory looking installation. Don't forget the bundle ties, always cheep, and makes things look nice when done.

Use Hopkins Towing Solutions

Part Number 48925 under $30.00 at Auto Zone.

Have used this on a 02TC and 08 Vision Street.

Wire in under the seat.

Just finished installing a Bushtec on my Vision but really hesitating on cutting into the wires to attach the isolator and trailer wiring. Does anyone have pics or a goto place for info on where to cut in to the harness?

Wseeman, was that Isloator for a 4 or 5 wire system and what did it set you back?
Jim that is kinda why I asked what I did. If I'm going to break into the wiring harness I'd like to do it once so right the first time would be a big help.
Vicguy is the Hopkins kit for a 4 wire/plug trailer??

The relay came with the bushtec hitch. it was 3 months ago, so I don't remember. 5 I think. Sam at Bushtec said the relay kit they ship, would be right for the victory with out any mods. I suspect some other bikes need some wiring change. Since the vic has a lighting assembly like the 80's and newer cars, I'm thinking it is a 5 wire.

It is 5 wire on the Bike side and 4 wire flat plug on the trailer side.

Hope this helps.
