Cruiser
Posts: 175 Colorado | I think everyone knows our schedule included an ERC course and the past weekend we had the Victory truck here playing host to the community of motorcyclists and allowing them a shot at riding the new models...What happens when you combine the two...you recieve emails like this one. unedited
Rocky Mountain Cycle Plaza in Colorado Springs held an Open House event on Saturday, May 30; knowing that Victory was going to have a tent with their latest offerings available to test ride, I squeezed some time in to check things out.
Needless to say, the Victory staff were very helpful in providing information on their bikes and I have been wanting to sample the Vision. I had a friend tell my wife, Denise what I was going to do and she decided to come along for the ride; but first, she had to do the required paperwork (waiver, license check, etc.)
The next thing I know, Denise is sitting on a Vegas Low, ready to take it out for a run! Ever since she got her own ride, she rarely rides on the back with me. I guess what we've been telling our female students is true after all; "The best view is always from behind a set of handlebars."
After the brief, about six to eight of us head out on a ride that lasted about 25 minutes and covered various sections of road that allowed us to fully sample the machines and their capabilities. The Vison? Simply incredible. Looks HUGE. Handles like a dream. I have sampled the Latest Honda Gold Wing and the Vision feels more manuverable and more eager to please when the roads get twisty.
Case in point: I am currently doing a Rider Coach Prep (RCP) at Ellsworth AFB in South Dakota. One of the Candidates is riding a 10th Anniversary Vision. From what I have been observing, the Vision's ground clearance is superior to the other bikes being ridden by the other candidates; from Honda Shadows to H-D Road Kings, the Vision has them beat on manuevering and cornering; even to the point of scraping the guards, the rider on the Vision has total confidence in his bike. That is a testament to the stability and feel the bike offers.
My only two things I didn't particularly like was that I had helmet buffeting whether the windshield was at its maximum setting or down low; I could not find a still pocket. I'm sure Victory offers a taller screen as an accessory. The other thing I didn't like was riding my old Bagger home and having my buns get cool after getting off the Vision. That's the price one pays when you're riding an old pony like mine!
On a side note. Denise enjoyed the Vegas Low. Some grins are meant to stay on your face for more than a couple of hours!
