Posts: 62 Des Moines | Hello - new member here and first post. My wife and I test rode a 09 Vision comfort the other day and while I was truly in love with every aspect of the thing, my wife complained of a vibration she felt through the trunk that just drove her nuts. So bad that she almost had me pull over so she could get off. My friend was following us and he said he could see the trunk lid vibrating as well.
I know that can't be normal as I've never seen anyone complain about it online and the sales gal said she hadn't heard anyone complain either. We checked the truck when we got back and nothing seemed loose that we could tell. Has anyone else had this issue?
We're riding another one from a different dealership this afternoon, so hopefully all will go well and I'll get the green light to but it, but she obviously isn't going to say yes to a $20,000 bike she can't ride on. As we all know, if momma ain't happy, nobody's happy.
I have to believe that it had to be something with that particular bike. The more she described it, the more it sounded to me like it threw a wheel weight or something. Vibration was worse the faster we went and if we weighted the trunk down with my jacket it was better. |

| I know this probably doesn't help but i've never had that issue. My wife LOVES the bike and we really don't keep the trunk on unless it's over night(storage). Great Bike, make sure the dealer is gonna stay around for awhile. |

Posts: 62 Des Moines | Thanks. I figured it was something with that particular bike. It wasn't a noise she noticed, it was actually vibrating against her back, like a massage chair only in a bad way (she hates those anyway). I didn't really notice anything, but I'm coming off a V-Star 1100 which is a buzzy bike at speed anyway, so maybe I did feel it a little and just figured it was normal v-twin vibration. It was 100 times smoother than the V-Star, however. Like going from a VW to a Cadillac. |

My trunk was super quiet and vibrated as much as the rest of the machine for 6500 miles and was NO problem at all. I had the CB installed and now it rattles like it has marbles in the bottom. And yes, as you may have guessed, its in the shop as I type getting all the details buttoned up.
So, try the other dealer or even ask to ride a different Vision because what you experienced is VERY abnormal. |

It takes a bit of trial and error to find the proper pressure for two up riding.

I ride two up a lot and then single a lot too. I am always changing up my shock. You mention that it takes practice. Do you not follow the sticker saying how much pressure for weight? This works fine for me. |

Posts: 3006 San Antonio, TX | My wife has a bad back. If I set it to the chart levels the road vibrations are a bit firm for her back. I normally set it about 3 to 5 lbs less then the chart for two up.
I set it to the chart for just me.
If I am riding solo in the twisties, I do the chart plus 5 lbs for a firmer ride in the corners.

Posts: 1484 LaPorte,Tx. | My wife also complained about the noise, but after putting extra sealer on the rubber parts to make it latch tighter and with her sitting on the bike with her back to the lid pad, I came to the conclusion it was something on the lid or trunk. I found it to be the speaker covers rattling, double stick 3M foam tape solved the problem. On a real hard rap like going over a rough RR track I can still get some rattle, believe it is from the black trim on the lid. I think some double sided foam tape here will also help. |
