| Most of my riding is in NW Florida, and all the county roads aren't even on the county maps. I've never owned a GPS but from looking at a friends it appears these little roads aren't always on there either. I'm planning a little trip to B'ham AL (one of the links below has a couple nice riding in that area) and would like to be able to pull up detailed county maps so I'm not on the interestate the whole way. I guess the easiest solution is to leave myself plenty of time and just enjoy if I get lost a bit but it seems there should be a source for these roads. Here's a few good links I have: http://www.floridacountiesmap.com/counties_list.shtml http://www.motorcycleroads.com/index.htm http://www.amvtwin.com/great_florida_rides.html ~Shy |

They are the ones that do all the mapping for the roads, houses, taxes, drainage, etc. All counties are not equal, but if they don't actually have the maps you are looking for they will be able to point you to the best maps for the area. It's what they do.
Also, http://www.google.com/maps maps are getting pretty good, but it depends on if they have updated your area yet and they have street level views of many areas.
Finally, last but certainly not least... http://www.bing.com/maps/ They have 3-d views and seem to be pretty up to date as well.

The gazateer will show every road from all the states in the list. Great for pre- planning but a little large to carry. |

| Do you know if those roads are also in the 39.95 street atlas package? It'd be great to have them on the 'puter for planning and then be able to print them out. |

| I've tried the Chamber of Commerce, the courthouse (I'm certainly there enough) as well as the FL and AL state sites. AL has county maps but most of the roads don't have numbers: http://alabamamaps.ua.edu/contemporarymaps/alabama/counties/index.html |

If you need to get somewhere - take a cab. |
