As with most of us, it's time to start looking at tires for my Vision.

Is anyone running an x-ply instead of the Dunlop E3 radials?

Are there advantages / disadvantages going with an x-ply?

I've been looking at at set of Dunlop 402s, but want to make sure I won't be sorry.

I guess it is up to you, but I"ve always understood to run the tire that is recommneded for the bike and its design. To my understanding that means not putting ply on a bike designed for radial. Other than that, I just don't know. I started to go the Dark Side in light of raved reviews but realized that my Vision wouldn't be what it suppose to be. I'm sporting a fresh set of E3 and fresh fork oil and I think it rides better than new.

A radial is superior in tracking, transition, and overall cornering grip. You will reget switching to a basic ply tire

Yeah, I was thinking that the radial would be a better tire. But the 402s are what the HD touring bikes run, and I was leaning towards a white pinstripe on the wall. I think that would look great on the Midnight Cherry. I can't find any other brand that makes a WW in the 130/70 18s for the front.

Still, I would rather have a better tire than a bit of flash.

Like they used to tell me at work...the sooner you forget where you came from..the better off you'll be !! Bunch of one county hicks! But seriously, the radials are far better in many ways as KevinX said. I would like to know if anybody found a brand that isn't so howly, noisey on cornering. Alan

BTW, how much did the E3's cost? And what did it cost to have them installed?
New tires would be better than duct tape, if I can afford them!
