Posts: 2027 Brighton, TN | SandintheCrevicesJim - Last time I checked you were in AZ, the land of SAND and HEAT. Have you put a swamp cooler on that thing yet?
Do you have the Tar snakes out there? I gotta know. I've hit a few and left a few of those rubber gators on the road, though. I hit one on my first bike, had just a foot peg and it wrapped up somehow and slapped my foot, I thought I broke it. Amazed, I was. |

Posts: 496 Scottsdale AZ | Poooootthescooooot - The tar snakes are not an issue here - the state doesn't patch the roads they just replace them. I did run over a road gator that flew off an 18 wheeler. it wrapped itself between my rear tire and fender. I came to a schreeeechin stop without even usin the brakes. Lucky on that one. Friend of mine locked a gator in his front end and went over the top of the bike. Broken collar bone etc. but he lived. Have fun on your ride! |

the dollar exchange rate is bad right now too so you might want to take care of that also before you leave. |

Have a good trip, good thing your not coming down to Carthage Texas, we are having a record setting heat wave. |

Posts: 2027 Brighton, TN | Thanks for the info VisionTex. However, being that, Carthage, is my old stomping grounds and still home. I would be happy to be there. There are enough two lane backroads with trees covering them for shade, that it still feels pretty good just riding around.

| If you are going to be in the Schaumburg area, that is only about 40 minutes from me and I'm in that area all the time due to the wife's family living around there. If you want to connect and see some of the local roads send me a PM with your phone number and we'll arrange a ride, but one warning, the roads here in the Chicago are rough and mostly straight with lots of LEOs watching. |

Hanging with Biker Trash (Bob) can cause some issues. Possibility of your fingers getting shorter, legs longer, eyes larger, all the fun things....ya know...kinda like hanging out with a pile of nuclear waste. By the time you get done you may look like Nick Nolte's famous mugshot.
Seriously...let me know which night or nights you two plan on and I'll see if I can make it over from Rockford. |

Posts: 104 Plainfield Illinois | I've been commuting on expressways in the the greater Chicago area for the last 20 years or so. Not braggin', wish it wasn't so. One thing all expressways have in common here is that they all suck. In rush hour, they all REALLY SUCK w/o exception. I commute 43 miles each way on weekdays and through both rush hours right past Schaumburg and on up to Arlington Heights. I very seldom ride my bike as rush hour brings out all the worst drivers in Illinois. Out of what has to be 50,000 cars and trucks I see each way there might be an average of 3 or 4 bikes. The bahstahds show their stuff in rush hours and will cut you off or tailgate ten feet off your tail at any speed up to 80 or even faster or closer. Cops do it too; not all of em but many do. Rush hour can extend your trip an hour or even more. It's not uncommon to be delayed; it's expected. If you have to be in Schaumburg at 8 a.m. then be advised that it would be wise to plan on arriving before the morning rush gets in full swing. Aim for 6 a.m. arrival and you can usually drive the speed limit or more all the way through. Also, since you are unfamiliar with the area, make sure you fill up with gas before you get in the greater chicago area. If for no other reason, Cook county has about the most expensive gasoline in the country. Remember GaTrixieGirl gettin stuck on the Dan Ryan last year for 2 hours in bumper to bumper traffic and how she said it burned her clutch out? Even though I-90 might look like the best route to go from where you are to Schaumburg, it has lots of interchanges and other places to jam traffic. I would avoid comin in on I-90 myself. Welcome to Illinois. |

| Bubba and clubford00, we should get together sometime to b.s., kick tires and perhaps have something to drink or eat (Hooters in Shaumburg is one of my favorites!) since we are fairly close together (I live up in Fox Lake).
Pollolittle, I got your PM and will give you a call sometime over the weekend. |

Posts: 2027 Brighton, TN | The PM system here, I have been unable to figure out how to address multiple folks. I'm available most nights, love to eat, love to ride and chat. That feels like I just posted a bio for a dating service. Pick out some of your favorite haunts and lets do it. Good evening ride with a little chatter and food. Feels like a perfect day, except for the whole working thing.
I'll send all you guys a PM with my cell and give me a call and see what we can work out. |

Posts: 600 Linwood, MI | I think I could make the trip over there, too. If nothing else, I'd love to see a decent-sized gathering of Visions. Is there a set evening and time for getting together yet? Can we pin one down? It's about a 5 hour trip for me, so I'm not planning on spending the night, just doing a day trip. |

Posts: 2027 Brighton, TN | Sup, Here in town, left VM for all the numbers I got. I'll be available Wednesday or Friday. Tonight possibly, Thursday Cubs games. Let me know. I will check this again at 4:30, then I don't have access. So call me, if you got good info or bad.
Also, looking for a jacket, possibly Victory gear, good Dealer and jacket suggestions are welcome. The weather wasn't this cool in Memphis. I forgot how cool it gets here. |

Po, remember this is neither a blog or a chat room, it is a forum.
hope you get your ride in around the windy city. I hear they make another american motorcycle just north of there, maybe a trip would be in order. I hear they could use a few good ideas, like how to stay upright through a pile of sheetrock going 50mph.
thanks for the updates.... |

Posts: 2027 Brighton, TN | I blog on. Drove around yesterday in a car, went 20 miles south to Naperville to a Victory Dealer, left at 5pm and got there right at 7pm. Right as they were closing. They let me in, I appreciate that. Got a call at the moment to meet up Friday afternoon with BikerTrash666 and lotzafun possibly. Should be interesting. Maybe I take a trip up to Waukegan, where the Naval Training Center used to be for bootcamp. That should jolt me for a few memories. Some good and bad. Maybe visit the old Dairy Queen, if I can find it out near a Mall. It was a drive up only, and I had my first bike and had to park in the parking lot and eat sitting or standing next to the bike. I was tooo young to go drankin. Maybe I try that this evening. |

| Hey Po,
I tried calling you twice since Sunday, both times it went to voicemail. What time tomorrow afternoon are you going to be up in Waukegan? Perhaps I'll leave work early and meet up with you out that way, but be careful, North Chicago can be a pretty bad place to ride around on a bike if you know what I mean.......... |

I was gonna go up there this evening, just cause I wasn't doing anything else. Tomorrow is a ride with BikerTrash666 and Lotzafun (possibly). So, let me know if you want to get together this evening or you want to meet up tomorrow with the other folks. |

Another Victory dealer is much closer to you than the Naperville one is. Its Randy's in Huntley, its about 30 minutes due west of you. You simply get on I-90 west towards Rockford and get off at Route 47 and head north about 3 miles and they are on the left side right after the railroad tracks. Give them a call at 847-669-0256 and check thier hours, I think they are only open till 6:00.
I've talked to Bob (BikerTrash) and I'm pretty positive I'm gonna make it tomorrow. |

I blog on. Drove around yesterday in a car, .....
What? what is this doing on this foru...uh blog? Car, we don't want to hear about no stinkin' car. I've had enough of cars, this world would be a better place we all rode Visions. Po, let's hear some scrappin' floorboard stories or putting HDer's to shame, or how some Winger is impressed how long you can stay in the saddle.
I've ranted enough, just for the good ole days. |
