I am trying to decide between Stage 1 Level 1 or Level 2 exhaust for my Vision. I rode a Vision with Ness Honkers, and they were way too loud. I like listening to my Ipod when I ride, so I don't want the pipes so loud I can't hear the IPod. If the sound volume gets up above 16-18 my ears start to hurt, depending on the song. Any advice? I'm interested at what volume level people who have L1 or L2 must have the radio / IPod, XM radio at in order to hear it.

The Atom Bombs can be done in your choice of baffle from 1.5 inches to 2.25 inches. You pick the sound...

I have S1 L2 pipes and normally run between 12 and 18 depending on speed and wind conditions. I have my "automatic volume" setting on Medium.

Works fine for me up to 80 mph.

keep this in mind. the atombombs are nice.. BUT...... you will be withOUT your ride for whatever time it take for you to remove and them ship out Your stock pipes, then wait for them to be recored Then wait for them to be shipped back.. they are great. but the whole time you are waiting you can NOT ride.... just something to be aware of.....

I have the S1 L1 pipes and if you plan on using (enjoying) your iPod then I wouldn't go any louder than that. I've had loud pipes on other bikes and they are great for bar hoppers and short cruises but if you are riding for 4 hrs or greater it gets tiresom. Another thing to consider is that bikes with really loud pipes are starting to tick people off which is causing the police to look at all of us. With my S1 L1 pipes they haven't giving me a second look yet my pipes sound great. I have relatives that are at this moment toning down their pipes because they've been warned, next is a fine.

I believe the S1L2 pipes are not much louder than the L1, just a little different tone, I prefer the L2, listen to my ipod, no problem

i went with the S1L1 because it allowed me to use my GATLIN tips.. if the s1l2 allowed that i might have gone with them just because they are the level 2. what is nice about the s1l1 is, every day i get people say WOW THAT SOUNDS REALLY GOOD WHEN YOU GET ON IT. but at the sametime, this weekend i came back from a camping trip and when i had to start my bike in the morning and get breakfast i wasnt waking the dead... and my ears didnt ring from hours of riding.. but the MAIN reason i went with s1l1 was to reuse my Gatlin tips. people love them tips!

S1 L2. I listen to my iPod and radio at level 12-16. Wife and I can hear it just fine. The exhaust note sounds good and the level is not loud enough to disturb the rider and passenger while you're cruising, but you get a nice roar when you really get on the throttle, especially in 5th gear.

I used to think I wanted a louder exhaust because it was fairly quiet and the only time I really heard nice exhaust was when I laid on the throttle. But a while back I finally had a buddy my bike for a cruise up and down the road at hard throttle and at nice, easy throttle and I realized that it sounds really good, both coming and going. I guess having the exhaust exit so far out the back away from me isolates me from the sound when I'm riding.

Wow, is something wrong with my Ness Honkers cause they must not be as loud as others,I ride with my radio volume at 10 - 14 and have no problem hearing it over the honkers

I have the S1L1's on mine cause I have the gatlin tips. I have heard the S1L2's and thought they had a tinny sound to them - a little louder (not much) but a different tone then the S1L1.

A friend has the adambombs (he is actually the one that came up with them) and I like the sound / tone from them. They are deeper and louder then the S1L1's and I think a little louder and better tone then the S1L2's.

I may someday switch over to the adambombs but for now I am happy with the S1L1's.

I can hear mine at 10, but I like loud music.

S1/L2 sound is definitely NOT loud but gives a really nice throaty sound especially in 5th and under load.
My TC with Stage 1 is much louder.

I have the S1L1, but heard the S1L2 before I decided which way to go. From what I understand, both offer the same performance gains. But if your interest is in the sound, the S1L2 was a bit throatier, and maybe a bit louder. Personally, after years on a Harley with some very loud pipes, the S1L1 was perfect for me, and I have been really happy with them. Performance is great, sound is enough but not too much (although sound is not my priority), and I can hear my iPod perfectly without excessive volume, and I wear ear plugs when I ride.

Good luck.

I have the S1/L1 on mine. About a week ago, I pulled into a roadside park and a couple on a Harley were stopped there, too. He walked over and asked about the Vision and what kind of pipes I had. He thought they sounded really good to him when I was coming off the highway.

I didn't want something that was annoying or tiresome on a long ride and am happy with the sound of the S1/L1 pipes. My Vision also has the Gatlin tips.

Thanks to Ken and Penny, I have heard both S1 L1 and S1 L2 pipes side by side. I noticed very little difference in loudness and only a slight difference in timber.

If you want Victory pipes, base you decision on the Gatlin tips. If you might want Gatlin tips go with S1 L1 if not S1 L2.

Have fun and ride all of the time.

I know it is here somewhere but does anybody have the info on where to send the stock pipes to get re-cored? Mine are all boxed up with no place to go. Thanks

If you're looking for a performance boost (especially for future upgrades) then the L2's are going to be the way to go. I've ridden on bikes with L1 (demo loaner vision) and they are slightly less loud. S1L2 is not a loud pipe by far. I have the baffles completely removed from my L2's and I've been listening to the radio at vol 12 with AVC at low. It's still much quieter than a set of straight pipes you find on drag bike due to other constraints and I really like it. Either exhaust quiets down once the load starts to drop off the engine and you're up to speed.
