| So I take a ride today. Figure it's a beautiful day so I won't wear a helmet plus my handicap nephew comes back from camp next Saturday. I am stopped in traffic in scenic Watch Hill, RI and feel a bump. One like going over a man hole and all of a sudden a light goes on. I get off the bike and a little old lady is driving and her husband is with her. I look down at the back of my bike and see her bumper still against the back of my bike and you guessed it a New York license plate. I walk back and she asks if she bumped me. I said I am calling the police to have a report. The Cop gave her a summons for following too closely and we exchanged info. The cop found a scratch in the chrome on the back. I wonder what that chrome piece costs and what it takes to replace? Looks like at least a saddlebag removal. I will contact Higgins tomorrow.
First time I have been hit on a motorcycle.
So how was everyone else's day?

| Congratulations... your accident caused no major medical, and minor damage to the bike. I hope mine is that easy, but the close calls I've had are usually some gene pool remnant in an SUV screaming around me with the brakes locked and a cell phone against the ear..
Seriously- I'm glad it was a small one. There've been 5 bikers killed here in Vegas in the last two weeks. |

Posts: 172 Prescott, Az | You got off real easy, RR. When I got bumped while at a light, I was launched into the intersection with $3200 damage to the bike and I had a very sore neck and hip. The good new is the bike was a VTX I no longer have. If it was the Vision, I'd go Old Man Rambo on somebody. I'm not sure what Old Man Rambo is but I'm sure its not pretty to see a geezer trying to fight a 20yr old who is laughing at him. Anyway, Redrider, I'm glad your accident was minor. |

| I told the officer when that I had done 100,000 miles in ten years. He said it's only a matter of time. I said you (meaning all police) don't get to live it down. He smiled and said I was right about that.
I know I am very lucky. Tonight's paper had where a local 20 year old girl was killed while riding passenger on the back of a guy's bike. Last summer we had like 6 M/C deaths in 4 days. Maybe it's the salt water? Maybe it's riders and drivers not paying attention? Maybe it's just God's culling of the herd?
All I can do is get back on and ride till the next time...
Safe riding |

Posts: 118 Spfld, IL but temp Bay area, CA | I replaced the gray rear valance with a chrome one. It takes no more than 20-30 minutes. The only trick is prying the saddle bags away from their frame without scratching the paint. Good instructions included with the chrome rear valance. You will need a 6mm ( I think)allen. |
