Posts: 367 Cottage Grove, Mn | Actually only 4979 miles and outside of a bad tank of gas there were no hiccups, coughs burps, sneezes, drips, leaks or flats. Riding two up pulling 400 lbs of trailer and cargo there wasn't a mountain road that could slow it down. Still can't make less then a 20 minute gas stop though, damn thing just draws to much attention. Got stopped for doing 45 in a 40 down a 6% grade he asked for my licenses and then spent the next 15 minutes talking about the bike never mentioned the speed again and no ticket. Looking forward to my next trip

| Rode from here to Salt Lake City to Sturgis and home. 5500+ miles in 12 days. Yes, had 3 days of 1000 miles or more. Have a pic of a sign on Powder Ridge at 9666 ft above sea level. Wish I could ride to San Diego instead of fly on Friday for work. |

Ride Safe.
We went through the Black Hills, Yellowstone National Park down through Idaho to Salt Lake, St George and into Chino Hills, California to visit friends for three days then up through Gunnison, Leadville area in Colorado. I had to put my S/O on a plane in Denver and I continued on Estes Park and into the Rocky Mountain National Park back up to the Black Hills and Sturgis and then home. I have pictures of my GPS showing elevation at 11,758 it did get over 12,000 but no place to pull off and get a picture. At the elevation it does not want to idle very well. We left on 26 July and I got home on 9 August.
BTW I hate all the people in the Denver area that get to ride the park any time they want (lol). If your ever in that area even in a car it's a must do.
As soon as I learn how to post pictures I will.

Posts: 1484 LaPorte,Tx. | Very nice trip, I'm still working on mine, on to the AVR tomorrow. I too was in Colorado, rode the Vision up to the top of Mount Evans, 14,260 feet above sea level. That is the highest maintained road in North America. There is definately a lack of oxygen up there, didn't do much but take a few pictures. Coming down ran into sleet and rain, that was interesting...
I found the cure for the rough idle at high altitude, put a lower octane gas in the bike, and it will run fine. |
