Hi all,
I've been lurking here for a couple months and just put my $$ down on a 2009 Vision Premium. Just wanted to say 'hello' and express my thanks for the posts here which have been really helpful in my decision making process.

Welcome to the site and congratulations for picking the best damn bike on the market I know you won't regret it. What model and what color?
Judging by your screen name you must hunt with a Chesapeake Bay Retriever.

Welcome and congrats on the new Vision.

Of course if he just picked it up we won't be hearing from him for a few days. Too busy playing.

Welcome. You have plenty of Vision fans here, myself included. I just turned over 24,000 on my '08 Midnight cherry premium tour, and am as happy as the day I got it! Enjoy the ride...------Metalguy

I pick it up on Saturday Sept 5th... taking vacation in the interim so it just made sense to wait a bit (but I really want it now, lol!). It's Midnight Cherry and hasn't been out of the crate yet. Is there anything I should double check at the dealer before I ride out? I'm still trying to get a straight answer from Victory about integrating my Garmin Zumo 550 GPS... anyone know if it'll work or should I just count on mounting my J&M gear?

I'm located outside of Philly near Valley Forge Park and my wife and I have been compiling a list of weekend trips for the fall.

I'm a big fan of Chessies but haven't hunted with them. They're an independent breed and can be quite stubborn but if you work with them you'll end up with a great companion. Just lost our last boy in June after 12 great years.

your 550 will work, but you need the 7 pin Tyco Mini Amp male connector to wire it into the Vision system. The female connector is on the right side wiring harness running along the frame, you can access it down the opening right of the key switch.
I mounted mine on the dash above the speedo using the Garmin motorcycle mount, that way is was in my direct line of sight, instead of having to look down at it where they mount the stock GPS system.
If you search the forum, you will find pictures, and info for the wiring
Welcome to the group, you are going to love that bike

congrats on the new bike. Did you get the secret handshake from the dealer? Don't forget that blue is the fastest color.

Hey man congrats to you AND your wife she will have the best seat in the house to see the Earth and all its outstanding beauty ....
and stupidity. We encourage you to come to the site regularly, participate in the goofyness, add your opinion, but most of all.
just agree with everything that I say. and for the record CHROME is the fastest color. Miata, if blue were the fastest, they wouldnt have cancelled it after one year..... but your blue is HOT HOT HOT loved it while it lasted. Anxious to see the new blue version Mac.

Congrats on the bike, it really is the best bike on the planet. So sorry for the loss of your pal. It is a bitch to lose them guys, lost my Black Lab last spring, my pal for 12 years also, but my new pal, another Black Lab he stepped right in to fill the gap. Anyway i don't mean to be sappy. You will love the bike.

Thanks for the info on the Garmin candubrain, I'll see if I can get my dealer to do the install before I ride.

I think my wife will love the VV, I just hope she doesn't regret giving up her own bike to become a passenger. As for the fastest color, I thought flat black was fastest... :-) My wife saw a flat black Kingpin at the dealer and hasn't stopped talking about it. Unfortunately, there's just no more room in the garage.

I really do think this is the coolest bike on the planet but have already seen the "love it/hate it" thing play out. My sister (a long time Norton rider) really hammered me for my choice... She's still in "time out"

Don't worry about the sap mgo, I'm not embarrassed to say that I cried every time I lost one of my dogs... we'll get another retriever someday. That old saying is true... the more people I meet, the more I like my dog. :-)

Yep- one of my favorite Will Rogers quotes.
Anyway, welcome to the Visionaries. You'll see a lot of fanatics and a few detractors on any of the sites (I show up on VOG net, KEG, and this one) but generally speaking if we didn't love the bike we wouldn't own it. As for speed, the midnight cherry has all the giddyup I need- I just want a little more bark out of it.

Only when people become as smart as their pets will we be better off. currently our cat has us cleaning her house weekly, feeding her
every time she wants food, removing her poop from her bathroom, not to mention the in out in out in out process when she wants to go outside just for the heck of it because she is too lazy to chase a bug but loud enough to scream for us to get the "iccky thing out of my way". cant have dogs allergies. why cant there be allergies to in-laws damnit.

Just rode my first 40 miles back from the dealer... it's a beautiful day so I'm heading back out.

Kudos to Dennis at Trumbauer Motorsports for making it easy.

If you spent any time on this or other forums that deal with the Vision you know that you have to put a couple of grand on the bike before it opens up. Give it time and it will come around. Until that time I remember thinking that the bike was a little bit of a dog. I have never had a bike run so different after breaking in, real night and day. It will also get quieter. Have fun................where do you live?

Ended up with about 100 miles on Saturday and really enjoyed my first day with the VV. It's my first BIG bike so I'm taking it slow and getting accustomed to it's handling and balance, especially at very low speeds. So far I think the bike is great and is living up to expectations (based on what I've read here and other VV sites). If it only gets better with more miles then I'm really looking forward to it, but since I don't have much to compare it to I'm just happy as can be right now. It looks like we'll be having another nice day today so I'll put another mile or two on the odometer before too long. I'd love to hear comments from folks who moved up from smaller bikes to the Vision.

You're doing the right thing by taking it easy HCFIU, I just wish more folks would do that. As your body gets use to the handling of this machine you'll actually be a part of the overall experience. Not many bikes are the same size or larger than the Vision so a lot came from smaller bikes unless they came of a GL1800. I came from GL1200 and the bikes are night and day from each other. Mine was so top heavy and I would have to really fight it on back roads or quick manuevers in heavy traffic. With the Vision, I felt that I had been riding it all my life from the first time.

Having ridden the Vision in every imaginable circumstance; storms, wind, grated bridges, rough roads, gravel roads, long distance and cold, I know I made the right choice. I ride year 'round here in central Virginia and riding on ice is my only challenge, one that I've passed on to try everytime.
