| ok so I found the rattle in the front of the bike. Seems that only 2 of the four rubber contacts that sit between the front aluminum windshield cowl were making contact. This allowed the cowl to rattle. I used a shoe string as a spacer to fix it  .
The trunk I have laid hands on everything, placed felt pads on all the rub spots, checked alignment on everything and still it rattles. I even tried the rubber hose on the latch trick someone mentioned. Other than making the trunk harder to close it didn't work. I have other Vision riders/owners asking me if I've found the cure yet and I got nothing.
So has anyone actually managed to eliminate the trunk rattle?? or did you simply reduce the number of rattling bits and still have a rattle??

| Check the speaker grills. I eliminated rattles by putting one 1/4 inch dia by 16th felt pad under each grill at the bottom where they slide into the trunk. Did the same thing to the bezel and alumnium dash. Nice and quiet now. Pads can be had at Wallyworld.(aka walmart) |

Ken, I had the squeak in my trunk lid too. I traced it down not to the latches or the hinges (well sort of) but rather to the screws that attach the hinge to the trunk lid. Victory uses a plain round "nut" with a flange and no threads combined with t thread forming screw to attach the lid to the hinge, the problem is that they must use a preset torque wrench when installing the screws and sometime the screws are not fully tightened when the torque is reached. I disassembled my trunk lid and used a set of vise-grips to hold the "nut" as I tightened the screw until it was fully seated and now it no longer squeaks. Hope this helps. |

| As far as the trunk rattle goes, try running a double layer of EPDM 3/8 wide by 3/16 thick foam rubber weather stripping in the channel that runs around the trunk where the lip on the lid goes into, it worked for me and from what I have heard from the VMC board it has worked for others. The lid will need to be pushed down a little harder (not slammed) but the foam rubber supports the lid up against the latches and won't allow it to bounce, thus eliminating the rattle. |

So Cal | Another area to look at is behind the left rear speaker. I you have now power outlets installed below your LR speaker, there are still connectors back there that can rattle. My biggest rattle was the plungers below the latch strikers. They were binding and made closing the trunk difficult. WD 40 fixed that. I think they are supposed to keep spring pressure on the strikers to keep them from rattling. That and tightening the speaker grilles and my trunk is quiet unless I hit really hard. |

Bingo!
This stopped the rattle for me. Over a year now and no problems.
I suppose I'll have to replace the foam eventually, but shoot - it's a cheap fix. |

Belding Michigan | That all sounds like a lot of work after years of driving crummy cars I found the simple way to make the noise go away turn up the radio loud at least then you don't hear the rattles. Archie |

| I've got it too, and have narrowed it down to the black long pieces on the side. Now if I can figure how to fix 'em....

| Smitty, I thought the armrests were the culprit as well since when you laid hands on them the noise quit. Placed felt pads on numerous spots on their underside where there was evidence of rubbing. Still have te rattle. |

| ok picked up some 3/8 x 5/16 sticky backed door weather strip, installed as per the recommendations here and the damn trunk still rattles. So here is what I have;
1. removed am rests and grills, placed felt tabs in numerous places to stop movement and contact.
2. Tightened hinges
3. Installed rubber hose to latch loops
4. installed weather strip
STILL RATTLES!!!!
Other suggestions???? |

Suggestion???? BFH and a warranty claim. 
Like you, I've found the damn rattle but can't get it to go away. Plus, my right rear speaker has taken a dump and sounds like my local teenager with his $500 car and $23 dollar radio rattlin' the rust. |

Seemed I had a rattle, much like teach, Laid hands on everywhere I could think of to see if the noise would stop. Never could figure out the noise, not really a metal on metal clanging sound, more like a rub of some sort.
Well, I took the trunk going for the sleeker, sexier look and found a couple of large rub marks on the lower panels right next to the seat, where the trunk closes off the gap to make it look right.
Theses rub marks are so deep you can feel the indentation in the plastic. Around two inches long and an inch wide on both sides. I have no noise with the trunk off, and as much rubbing as I saw that has to be the noise plaguing me. There is no longer paint in these areas it is rubbed down to below the base plastic. I can confirm the entire plastic panel is black all the way through. Now I just have to figure out a way to stop it from doing that.
The trunk was tight, I may have to put spacers under the trunk to get it up high enough, without incurring some other kind of flexing sound. |
