Posts: 367 Cottage Grove, Mn | There are three reasons to choose a particular car to sponsor for a limited number of races or for an individual race.
1. The car almost always starts in the top ten, runs in the top ten were all the action is and finishes it the top ten getting a lot of TV coverage. But that can cost up to $5mil.
2. The car gets TV coverage banging and slamming into other cars causing wrecks or simply wrecking themselves either way the sponsor gets coverage. About $1mil
3. Because the driver has an avg. starting position of 25.5 and an avg. finishing position of 27.6 so he cost less then say, Stewart, Jeff Gordon, Edwards, Johnson, Burton or Busch. Under a mil.
I'll let you decide why the chose Robbie. Robbie should stick to Baja that seems to suit him best.
IMHO of coarse.

dont think they can afford, or are willing to part with the dollars it takes to get on a car like that. a botom feeder like Robbie will take anything he can get |

| Wouldn't it be better as an American company to sponsor a "true" American auto and driver in a Ford, Dodge, or Chevy
I too like Robby Gordon, but love it every time he, or anyone crashes that Japanese nameplate into the wall.
No offense.

I dont follow NASCAR and have no idea who or what a Robbie Gordon may be; however I feel compelled to speak up in defense of us "bottom feeders" everywhere.
Bottom feeders are required in every ecosystem, and in every economic system. We keep the system clean and working by feeding off the things that the big boys dont want or cant justify doing because of their costs.
A significant amount of the economic food chain in the US is populated by bottom feeders who have found a niche.
And when we get big enough to get noticed by those at the top of the chain, we make pretty sweet eating when dipped in corn meal and deep fried. |
