I posted this in another reply but for those who don't know; The PolarisStar extended warranty is a BREAKDOWN warranty. If you read over the paperwork you'll see exactly what items it covers and under what circumstances.
For example my headlite which has been replaced numerous times due to separation and cracks is NOT covered by the PolarisStar warranty even though the newest headlite assy was installed less than 2 months ago (mine has had to be replaced about every 2-3 months since purchasing the bike).
My dealer is checking to see if the warranty will cover the faulty gear indicator and muffler tips that have bubbled up and are flaking off, so I'll have to wait and see.
The paperwork for the bad radio will be turned in for authorizing replacement tomorrow morning and I should know something about it at that time. I suspect Victory will be honoring the radio due to the run around I've gotten since purchasing the bike and their tech support stating they would replace it if the most recent download wasn't the cure.
So this is an "INFO YOU" to go over your bike with a fine tooth comb at least a month before the FACTORY warranty expires and get all those little things repaired or replaced you find. If you don't do it then you'll either have to learn to live with the problem or pay for it yourself.
A couple things you might want to have a look at are the muffler end caps for any signs of chipping, lifting or cracking. Also the headlite for fading along the top edge which indicates it is separating, and for hairline cracks. Anything else you note should be addressed before the warranty expires. Hope this helps someone from getting hosed........ T

This is a huge help! I was actually trying to decide if I wanted to purchase the extension. Fact is, I have had very little issues and the issues I have had were not very well handled anyway. SO...the extension based on my history is definitely not worth it and now after your comments...I will NOT be purchasing!

While the extended does not cover cosmetics. It does cover most of the rest of the bike. INCLUDING a headlight that leaks. I am a Vic mechanic for a living, and I have a warranty on my bike. I see people every week that have their warranties pay for themselves in single repair items

kevinx, my dealer showed me the invoice where they ate the last headlite, all $400+ dollars... So I guess my question to you is how are you getting this stuff past PS so it is covered???

EJ, before you decide it isn't worth the $$$ look at what the warranty does cover. For example if your radio packs it in, or power windshield quits, or your fuel pump goes, etc.... It is BREAKDOWN warranty coverage. I picked up the extra 4 years for $600 and while it may not cover everything, it covers enough to make it worth the $600 for me. If your radio packs it in the warranty has paid for itself on that one repair, same if you have the HID and it goes, $400+ just for the lite assy.
The point of my post was folks should get all the piddly cosmetic, alignment, etc type stuff squared away before the factory warranty expires....... and to KNOW what the PS warranty covers, as some think it covers everything like the factory warranty.
