Posts: 363 Goldsboro, NC | Hey, all.
I'm looking at the CB radio plus antenna for almost $1000.
I'd love to ba able to talk, but that seems a bit steep.
Does anyone have a line on less expensive options to get CB on my bike?
Thanks for any ideas you can provide. Right now, I'm considering putting one of those midland minis in a plastic box on the dashboard, then trying to get a Bluetooth adapter (Camos, probably) to work with the mic and external speaker jacks. Ugly, but would serve the function for less than half price. |

| How do you come up with a grand? Victory CB w/ Intercom and passenger controls = $650, Antenna for CB $140, Audio Harnes $50, which comes to $840. This compares quite favorably to the prices on the factory CB plus antenna from Honda for the Goldwing and that is the market (luxury touring) that the Vision competes in. |

| If you still don't want to spend the money for the Victory unit, try giving J&M Electronics a call, they make a great CB/Weather radio unit that mounts to the handle bars and may be able to be integrated into the Vision audio system. |

| Well trailbarge did say "...almost $1000". $840 is getting pricey.
Trailbarge, you didn't say whether or not you had the trunk. If you have the trunk, then suggest shopping the market for a CB unit that fits the cavity in the trunk that also would have remote control that could be mounted on dash. No trunk, then perhaps the saddlebag? From an aesthetic point of view, that'd be better I think. Don't know if something like that exists. You might try eBay, too. |

Mostly for the Goldwing of course. Letting them know that there is an ever growing fleet of Victory Visions out here is probably a good idea anyway.

Posts: 118 Capitol Region of NH | I have been thinking about giving one of these a try on mine. I don't want one that is intergrated into the sound system that you have to have helmet speakers and microphone. It is to bad Victory didn't make the CB more like the G-Wing or Harley where you can have a hand mic and hear it over the sound system if you choose.

Ok... I just wonder how good it will sound while cruising down the highway at about 80 mph? Will you need to move your helmet to hear it? I don't want to be a Nay-sayer, but this looks like something that you would use in an enclosed vehicle...
Also, it say the it is ideal for "recrational" vehicles... What is a "recrational" vehicle..??

Posts: 363 Goldsboro, NC | Thanks, everyone. You all went down the same paths I have. The only thing not mentioned yet is the Midland 75-822.
Yes, it looks like going factory is the way to go. Unfortunately, with my finances, $840 is much like $1000.
Damn it... I had the choice between a 10th anniversary (cancelled order, on the showroom floor) and the one I have. I was just about to go with the 10th when the dealer dropped the price on the '08 another $3000. Now I have a tour pack with a mismatched key and no GPS and no CB. If I had ordered that stuff from the get-go, I could have rolled it into the financing and not noticed it. Now I have a bunch of toys to buy and I get to feel every penny.
At least I have the world's best touring bike to ride while I figger out all the lipstick and mascara. |

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | don't kick yourself too hard TB. I've gone the whole summer without the communications and CB as we are not wearing the helmets set up for it. both wife unit and i wear shorties, I think Victory calls their's puddin' bowl, which fits my puddin' head.
but i do appreciate the chatter from the cb when they are talking about that funny lookin' bike going down the road. or carrying on a normal conversation with the wife. keep lookin' for sales and see if you can get 20% off on a new unit from your dealer. or if others like myself will keep up with the local sales and maybe they can pick it up for you. that'll save a couple bucks. |
