OK guys I need some help please, I have taken the wife out on several rides now on my new Vision...Her only complaint is she says she feels like she is always falling forward or sliding forward on the passenger seat. Is there any way to fix this problem?

She is a tiny woman she is 5' tall and 93 lbs when she is wet! I have added the passenger riser blocks to help with her feet but she says that is not it, she says the seat makes her slide forward to much. She also said my Road Glide had a MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE seat.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!!

Try a medium or small butt buffer and slid it forward on the seat or you can get a large one and put a towel or something under the front of it to get her leaning to the rear.

The tour pack tilts backwards too much for smaller riders causing their butt to slide forward and placing them on heir tailbone, so here is what you do to test my assertion; Go to Kmart or Walmart and buy a kitchen chair pad or if you have a thin pillow or some 3" thick foam laying around it will do. Have her place it behind her upper back so she is more upright like she would be if on your ole HD RG. Once you've determined that this IS the cause the ONLY permanent solution is to remove the upper pad and have an auto upholstery shop rework the pad so the top is thicker and tapers downward to meet up with the lower pad. OR;
My wife had the same complaint so my plan is to make a plate that is 3/4 of an inch thicker at the top, tapering down to nothing on the bottom that will go between the pad and the tourpack. I'll probably end up replacing the upper mount bolts with something a little longer to accomodate the plate. This will allow me to maintain the stock pad but make it more upright. My holdup is finding a machine shop that does piece work with billet aluminum to maintain the brush aluminum look. As soon as I find someone and get it done I'll post details, cost and a pic or two. I'll also check on a willingness to make more if others would like to do the same.

Cool...Very good idea. My wife works for a specialized wheelchair company so I have access to ALL KINDS of FOAM...We bought her a Airhawk to see if the seat angle was the problem and provide more cushion for her tush...That helped with the cushion but had no effect with the sliding forward problem...

I will try the foam and see if that fixes her sliding problem...Again GREAT IDEA...If it does I will have to find a VERY GOOD upholstery person in my area. I have used one here locally and they RUINED my bass boat seats...WILL NOT USE THEM AGAIN...

If she is small she more than likely does not have her feet planted on the floorboards. risers will help. My passenger wanted to sit lower also so I had Butt Buffer reduce the seat height 3/4 of an inch and add gel. She says the seat is great and to leave it alone. Lso addid gel to the front at the same time.

Joe, actually if you've purchased an AirHawk already it will work perfectly (thats what my wife uses). Instead of sitting on it have her place it behind her back. She may have to add a little air to make herself sit more upright. I believe you'll find that when she is sitting upright she won't slide AND the seat will be comfy for her as well. Sitting more upright gets the pressure off the back side and spine/tailbone which is what is causing the discomfort with the seat.
If she rides with you a lot you can actually run the hold down straps for the AH behind the stock backrest so she doesn't need to keep placing it behind herself every time she gets on and off. The pad itself can be removed when she isn't on board leaving just the straps behind the pad.
Hope this helps her out, it did my wife....

The problem is NOT the seat!! The floor boards are way to low for her, I know my wife is the same size I to though the seat was the problem NOT so add 4" of wood to your stock floorboards and she will fit the bike just fine. This will allow her to use her legs to position herself back against the trunk unit and keep her in position.

Does the tapered (lower side) of the 'tush cush' go to the front or the rear of the seat?

I think the idea is the cut-way is the backside for the tail bone, meaning the taper-end goes forward. it may be counter productive, but if the problem is that prevalent, I would custom the seat for her by cutting way and sloping toward the rear.

I know when I had my seat done on the wing I had it cut down and the guy doing it had me sit on the bike, take a measurement and cut away a little at a time until it felt the way I wanted it.

I agree varyder. I've been saying this all along. The back part of the passenger seat, the area that is raised upwards toward the rear, is the problem. Looking at the seat, one would think that raised area is for the lower lumbar, not so. I firmly believe if that can be sliced off by an upholsterer, the sliding forward issue would be gone, also giving you a little more room back there.

Is it possible to remove some of the rear seat (lower the rear portion) without causing an issue with the heating element?

a good upholsterier should be able to take care of that with no problem.

Just as a suggestion because i know of another couple with the same issue, i know you said you already have the floorboard risers, but are they tall enough? Some people have to stack two sets of risers or even purchase the aftermarket ones that are as much as three inches tall or more. As soon as she can get her thighs to be almost horizontal, that should take care of the sliding forward. But I also realize it may be a combination of the seat and higher risers. Velcro could be good way to go.
