| Ordered the Avon Cobra AV72 to match up with the AV71 I put on the front and it is a real nice looking tire as is the front. My hope is that it works as well as the front. So far the front has over 4k miles since its recent install and NO ridge in the center and no real signs of wear. It grips extremely well on tar snakes and rain covered roads. Ambient temps don't seem to cause any slipping and it holds pressure seady.
The weight rating is just a few pounds less on the AV's than the E3 so really that is the only factor one would need to weigh into the decision. Cost was within a few dollars of the E3 and I've had good luck with Avons in the past. The tire goes on Thursday so I'll take a few pics and give a run down on initial impression.
I figure if Arlen runs this tire on his it must be ok, lol...... |

Any updates on how the avon cobra is performing on the rear? Did you get a 60 series or 70 series size? |

I'm starting to get worried about Teach. Posted a week or so asking if anyone has seen or heard from him....and I got zero replies.

Posts: 64 Hot Springs Village, Arkansas | Teach, How is the Avon for noise or roar at turn in? I'm hoping it's quiet compared to the Dunflop. Thanks, Alan |

| Hey folks, sorry I've been too busy to post. The Avon works great, I haven't noticed any noise and no raised center strip like on the E3. I'm running the AV71 & 72 with the new tread pattern as it is weight rated for the Vision. Sticks like glue in the corners dry or wet, hot or cold. Had to add 2lbs of air to both th front and rear after 3k worth of riding which is pretty good. You will notice the tread pattern just before coming to a complete stop as it is swirled pattern that overlaps the centerline. Dead straight on checkering, grating and other road junk. Was running 40 front and rear but I've lower it to 38 front and rear on a friends recommendation. This is the tire I'll be running from here on out. |

| Thanks radio. You all don't need to worry about me, I'm bullet proof,lol.......
Oh for the record I found the best price on the AV's at the Motorcycle Superstore and received the tire promptly (free shipping). I've purchased from them before and what I like is they do volumn so the tires haven't been sitting on a shelf long. Lots of places only discount tires when they approaching their shelf life expiration. Good for them bad for us.
Someone mentioned Avon tires cracking. Actually the GW riders experienced some tread separation issues. This was related to a specific lot of tires and has been remedied. Never heard of cracking EXCEPT on Metzlers where the sidewall black coat cracks exposing the white wall under. It won't harm you but looks like crap. Had it happen to mine front and rear on a HD. Haven't run Metz since. Again I believe the tire had been sitting too long. |

On the rear did you stick with the std 60 series tire or go to the 70 series as I have read some had done with their GW's ? |
