| I am considering moving from my 06 Nomad to an 09 Vision soon and took a test ride on an 08 Vision Street during my lunch break today. We rode about 15 miles. The thing that concerned me the most is that both mirrors catch the grips/levers in them and take up almost half of the mirrors. I asked if any customers had complained about that and he said NO. Really?? Is this just something I've got to get use to? A few other quick newbie questions if you don't mind?
1. Can I get my Zumo 550 to work on the Vision including the XM option which I use now on my Nomad? Should the dealer be able to install this for me as I know nothing about wiring. WIll I need some special connections/cables?
2. Does anyone have the XM option installed as offered via Victory? How is it and where do they mount the antenna?
3. I'm sort of partial to the ice blue version. Not seen many pictures in the gallery of that color. Was it not a very popular color or did they sell out fast?
4. Does the I-pod cable also charge the ipod while connected?
5. I understand the speakers have been upgraded from the 08 models. Am I correct?
6. Do you get much vibration in your mirriors. My test bike had quite a bit.
Thanks everyone!

| I had issues with the mirrors myself at first. I did get them ajusted so I can see behind me. Some riders put the round merrors that people use with cars in the corner of the stock mirrors and some added a set of mirrors that mount on the fairing.

Think so, but have not done this
2. Does anyone have the XM option installed as offered via Victory? How is it and where do they mount the antenna?
Sorry, do not know
3. I'm sort of partial to the ice blue version. Not seen many pictures in the gallery of that color. Was it not a very popular color or did they sell out fast?
They did not make many, they sold more black and the maroon colors
4. Does the I-pod cable also charge the ipod while connected?
Ipod yes, the MPS cable no
5. I understand the speakers have been upgraded from the 08 models. Am I correct?
Yes, I have an 09 an think the speakers are just fine. At 70 or 80 there is only so much quality that your ear can hear.
6. Do you get much vibration in your mirriors. My test bike had quite a bit.
No issues on the mirrors on my bike.

| Hello, I can only offer you this:
1. I have no idea, I would ask the dealer.
2. See #1
3. I love the ice blue and almost bought it. Went with black. If you like it, get it. Saw one on the road a few days ago, they are beautiful.
4. Nope. It is a bummer. Apparently there is an in-line adapter that will do this... and a new cable in the works that does it too.
5. I heard that too. I have an 09 and upgraded the speakers to Alpines, others have done other things. Stock speakers are sufficient, if you like more, you can always get it.
6. I get no noticeable vibe in the mirrors at all!
I love the bike, and apparently everyone else does too. You will need to get a matching blue stick to keep the people away from the bike.
GO get it! |

Posts: 271 Belding Michigan | Well let me take a crack at some of these
Never had a mirror problem but some have complained I have ridden tourers with fixed faring for years and they all seem about the same to me.
Not sure on the Zumo you would have to work with your local dealer as they may or may not have the skill set to help.
I have the XM dealer installed and I love it but the antenna is in the middle of the dash at the highest point and I don't mind it as I have my Grarge door controller mounted on the dash as well.
Beauty is in the eyes of the man with the check book if you like Blue go Blue it was not available in 08 so I got Cherry would have had Blue if I could have got it.
It depends on the Ipod I have the Nano and it charges mine but some of the next gen need a different cable to get power.
Not sure about the speakers as I kept the stock exhuast I can hear the radio on the expressway at a setting of 7 with no problem the louder the exhuast the more you have to crank it to hear it.
I get zero vibration in the mirrors the only Vibration I get is when I lugg the bike down to low in RPM then I can feel the motor in the seat. Archie |

Posts: 460 Centennial, CO | First - Congrats...this would be a tremendous move and you won't be unhappy in the least!
"The thing that concerned me the most is that both mirrors catch the grips/levers in them and take up almost half of the mirrors. I asked if any customers had complained about that and he said NO. Really??" - Sadly, yes, its a bit of a pain. However, you DO get used to it. I have seen many ways around this such as round blind spot mirrors...etc.
"Can I get my Zumo 550 to work on the Vision including the XM option which I use now on my Nomad?" - You could do this yourself. There are many people doing this on the forum. I would recommend either posting a question for the how to or doing a search for their answers that have already been posted a number of times. I don't use a ZUMO so I can't help here.
Should the dealer be able to install this for me as I know nothing about wiring. WIll I need some special connections/cables? I would recommend doing it yourself and saving the money.
2. Does anyone have the XM option installed as offered via Victory? How is it and where do they mount the antenna? There are a number of people who have done this. It integrates well into the system and plays very well. The antenna sits on your dash under the windscreen. I have seen a couple of people create a small bracket and mount it over the clutch reservoir...but I would recommend on the dash. It looks better IMHO.
I'm sort of partial to the ice blue version. Not seen many pictures in the gallery of that color. Was it not a very popular color or did they sell out fast? I can't answer as to why or if they sold out fast. I can say that while on the show room floor, the color didn't do much for most people and therefore probably didn't sell a ton. It was not their best effort for a blue color. But some like it. If you like blue...you might look at the new '10 version and see the dark blue. Had they had this color I would have bought it.
Does the I-pod cable also charge the ipod while connected? I believe it will charge the Ipod if you get the compatible version. The gen 1, 2 and 3 work for charging...but I run an iPhone and had to purchase an adapter for charging. You'll find it here... http://www.cablejive.com/iphone_3g_charge_converter.html.
5. I understand the speakers have been upgraded from the 08 models. Am I correct? I haven't heard this. But, you can find J&M speakers at a reasonable price and many postings about the speakers on this site.
6. Do you get much vibration in your mirriors. My test bike had quite a bit. This is a subjective thing. There IS vibration on most of them. Some are better than others. If you feel it is truly unusable, ask the dealer to fix it. I have not had ANY issues with mine. It is much better than my old Harley wannabe fairing so I am very happy with mine.
Hope this helps!

I asked if any customers had complained about that and he said NO. Really?? Is this just something I've got to get use to? The mirrors are big enough that the grips levers soon disappear. Never had any problem with visibility. A few other quick newbie questions if you don't mind? 1. Can I get my Zumo 550 to work on the Vision including the XM option which I use now on my Nomad? Should the dealer be able to install this for me as I know nothing about wiring. WIll I need some special connections/cables? There is a Zumo mount in the 2010 accessories and there is someone that is making a 3rd party mount. Yes, you can use the XM portion, however, you would have to connect to the audio aux input and then you would NOT be able to install an iPod cable. 2. Does anyone have the XM option installed as offered via Victory? How is it and where do they mount the antenna? I have the XM option and it works great. The antenna is mounted just below the windshield (behind the windshield). Much smaller than the Garmin antenna. 3. I'm sort of partial to the ice blue version. Not seen many pictures in the gallery of that color. Was it not a very popular color or did they sell out fast? It wasn't a very popular color.. 4. Does the I-pod cable also charge the ipod while connected? Don't get me started here. The iPod cable is a 3rd party copy and as a result it will not charge the newer iPods. It works fine with 3rd generation nanos and earlier models. There is an interaction with the natural frequency of the bike and hard drive iPods, so the iPod classic should not be used. There is a new more compliant iPod cable coming from Victory but it has not been released yet. 5. I understand the speakers have been upgraded from the 08 models. Am I correct? I have an 08 and and 09 and the speakers have definitely been improved but are still not that great - I am looking for some higher quality replacements (J & M is not that good) 6. Do you get much vibration in your mirriors. I do not see any vibration in my mirrors... My test bike had quite a bit. Thanks everyone! Jeff |

| Thanks for the feedback guys! I hope to be on a new 09 Vision within a week or so! I'll probably go with the midnight cherry as there appears to be no blue models in my area. I will also get the XM radio offered via Victory but still use my Zumo for navigation. My sales guy said the 2010 models would not be out until December. Does this seem right? I'd like to see that new blue version in person. Thanks again!.

Posts: 460 Centennial, CO | Jeff,
I was thinking about this after I posted earlier. I use my Garmin 2820 all the time and I am watching for an antenna (smart antenna) that will allow me to use my Garmin as the "somewhat" head end of the XM. It is a GXM30 or GXM30a.
I know you were thinking of going to a ZUMO. I believe this is compatible as well and 1/5 the price of the unit from Victory. I actually use the port for the XM (I don't have an XM on my bike yet) as my storage for gloves. Gloves up to two pair will fit nicely if folded in half from finger tip back to the wrist. I do this on both sides so as to always know where my gloves are.
I am not thrilled about the larger antenna...but to use an already existing piece of equipment and not just add something else to my bike, this seems like a good idea (GXM30 or GXM30a). |

Posts: 1290 Ruskin, Fl | I had the same concern about the mirrors before I bought mine. After the first week and 700 miles I never gave it another thought. I get ZERO vibration in my mirrors. I use an iphone 3G on my Vision and sadly it does not charge. |

| What these with the plain color Vics won't tell you is that the Blue Ice is faster, more comfy, is more of a chick magnet than the others.
And you get better fuel economy with the blue one too.
I was selected to get one of the 10th Anniversary Editions and when I went to pick it up the dealer had both sitting outside in the sun. While the 10th was a great looking bike, I swapped him for the blue one. The way it glitters in the sun is amazing and the silver panels actually look good with the blue, which I don't think you can say about the red or black.
Easy to take care of since it hides dirt better than the others.

For a complete run down on the iPod stuff for the Vision read the .pdf on the post below. The only update I have is that Victory is supposed to have a new cable out that solves the charging issue. No one has bought or seen this cable yet but it should be out soon.

| If I did not get a 10th Anny I was going to buy the Ice Blue with gray panels. Very pretty bike. I would check out dealers in a wider range for an Ice Blue and ask your dealer to work out something with today's economy most dealer's will do anything for a sale. That dealer gets it off his books and your dealer gets a happy customer.
I have XM and maybe mine doesn't work like others? I get a lot of fade of sound when under heavy tree cover along back roads. It works fine on the highway but of course I like riding back roads over super highways when not on trips. Once my 90 days run out I won't renew my subscription.
I have a 2nd gen Ipod that works great on the bike and with all the free downloads from Amazon I don't have to listen to same 10 songs played since the 70s. I wish XM had a college station cause they play the backside of albums/CDs.
My mirrors are fine with me. Pull up next to a Harley and look at his mirrors.
