I was reading about a military organization has done a stand-down for bikers on the 9/11 anniversary where if you want to participate, that is your place of duty. it also has been mentioned there are other rides inconjunction with this day. Do anyone plan on making an organizied 9/11 ride this year?

Are there any that any one knows of close to Central Va?

There used to be, and likely still may be, the "Rattle The Runway" ride at Dullus International. If you have never experienced it, it's one of those "gotta do it at least once" events.

I'll be riding in the 9/11 ride WB mentioned in Florida. http://www.911remembranceride.com/ I rode it last year. It was a great event. Police escorted with people lined up along a good part of the route. Leaves Manatee Harley Davisdson at 7:00 PM. Registration begins at 5:30. It's a 5 dollar donation and it goes to support the troops. My chapter of FOOLS, Fraternal Order Of Leatherhead Society is meeting at the Beef O'Brady's off SR 64 in Lakewood Ranch at 5:30. The plan is to meet first so we can stay together. The lid of the day is going to be our fire helmets. All are welcolm to ride with us. Last year I think it was about 600 bikes.
