Posts: 550 Tacoma, WA | What gives? This high-perf air filter arrived today - sans oil. It may seem a dumb question, but I DO oil it before I instal the K+N style filter, right? I have the K+N oil, but most K+N filters I have had were initially oiled right out of the package. -----Metalguy |

The filter WAS oiled with a clear oil. The red color you are used to seeing is trademarked by K&N, and the new Vic filter is some cheap china crap; so they can't use the red oil |

Posts: 354 20 miles west of Chicago. | I don't think K & N makes a filter for the Vision. I was in the dark a few months ago when I pulled the "high performance" filter on my Vision to clean and re-oil it and couldn't at first figure out just what sort of animal it is; it didn't look like a K & N. Found out from Kevin X and others that it's a K & N type filter made by someone else. Cleaned and re-oiled it with a K & N kit and it appears to be working OK, or at least I hope it is. I'd buy a genuine K & N in a heartbeat if it were available. What did Vic increase it's per bike profit by going cheap, a dollar and a half? |
