Posts: 7 Florida | I will be buying a Vision in the near future, I see no external radio antenna. Is the reception good on these radios? How about the AM band? (I do listen to talk ocassionally) |

| I am in Southern California, my AM works well. But I prefer the ipod.... I do believe there is an add-on antenna somewhere to help if needed. I thought I saw that somewhere.. I am sure these guys can help..
I hate to say it, but I believe the Vision has been a prob for radio reception for many. I have had no probs so far.

+1 - I finally went the XM route and I am NOT turning back!
If you are in the Denver area or late at night, you will find that AM850 is a great station. On the weekends and evenings, they crank out 50,000 watts. Yes...seriously they do. I have been called by friends who have gone as far as St. Louis and been able to catch the skip and get a game on their AM from over 800 miles away. Pretty cool! |

Posts: 3006 San Antonio, TX | Teach is right. The AM radio is a bit deaf. The FM Radio receiver is really deaf. That does not count the antenna that sucks.
My tests on the FM receiver show that it needs a 3 uV signal to pick up stereo FM. Most radios do this at 1 uV or less.
To say the least the radio is crap.
Class C FM radio stations are your best bet. 100,000 watts effective radiated power at a height above ground level of over 1000 feet.
These are the blow torch stations and give everyone the best range.
I use the amplified antenna listed above and it helps with FM. But it can only do so much with a receiver this bad.

The only thing you will receive on the AM band is RF noise from the HID ballast. Sorry to discourage you but OEM reception is truely a problem with a lot of bikes, Vision included. |

Until then, I use my iPod alot.
