VA | Just curious if anyone here has used XM for Victory. I know that some people have used the car kits, or the portable units. But, isn't there a way to activate the XM through the radio, or buy something that allows you to use XM through the radio? I like the idea of being able to "take it with me" with a car kit, but I already have a GPS mounted, and rain would certainly be an issue with it being mounted on the bike. Just wanted to see who had done this and there thoughts or impressions. I appreciate the help.

Cottage Grove, Mn | I have the factory install and it works great, never a problem. My son has a unit that has to play through a non proprietary FM channel and he has to keep finding a similar channel as he moves around. Also because it is not water proof he has the control unit mounted in a saddle bag which makes it damn difficult to changes channels. Recommend you go with the factory unit less hassle and easier to use.

VA | Thanks for all the responses. My wife just got a car that has three months of XM for free. I had never really used it until yesterday. it's pretty cool, but the cost is what keeps me from pulling the trigger. But, the AM/FM antenna on the Vision sucks, no doubt about it, and I'd like to listen to something other than my iPod sometimes. How many of you bought the lifetime subscription that I have heard about? it's about $400, right? The only issue that I have is that the lifetime subscription seems to be on that unit, and that unit only. If I ever have to sell the bike, I'll be pretty pissed that I lost that. Also, that means I won't be able to listen to it in my car, which would suck a little. Anyone know of any discounts on the XM subscriptions, or a multi-unit discount? Also, is the XM receiver really $400+ through Victory? Anyone found these cheaper? I appreciate all the help. |

| Factory XM here. Works great. Of course it is overpriced, but I stuck it to the man by mounting a Nuvi 760 instead of coughing up the extra $600 for a zumo (and am way happy with it).
I just transfered my subscription from Sirius (Road King - bike #1) to my new vision. In doing do, I opted for the lifetime subscription $430. They say you can transfer, but it is $75 per transfer. Still, this is a good deal, if you can stand the outlay of cash ("5 easy installments"). BTW - the stock radio reception sucks big time - ipod works the best! |

VA | Appreciate it. I was reading the lifetime contract, and it basically said that if you buy the lifetime subscription that the only way to transfer it was if the radio/receiver was lost, damaged, or stolen, and that it was at their sole discretion to transfer it. I can see the transfer fee, and even limiting the number of times you transfer it, but I'd hate to shell out for the lifetime fee and then have to sell the bike or something and not be able to keep the XM. I agree that the stock AM/FM sucks. I listen to the iPod all the time, but thinking it'd be nice to have XM. Especially if I start using it more for commuting.
Thanks again for all the replies. If someone know of a less expensive place to buy the XM unit that is made to work with the stock radio, please let me know. That plus the subscription is a steep price to have radio on the bike. |
