Posts: 208 Wichita, Kansas | A comment was just made in a post about having a more convenient seat heater switch for the rider. Not having the seat myself, that never occurred to me. There is an open space on the right of the switch bank. You would have to cut into the wiring, but you could add a grip warmer switch if it is open (mine is filled with a separate switch for the driving light). I also added aftermarket grip warmers to my Street Basic so I bought the same switch. It is about $25 from the dealer and only took a few days to get. It will pop right in where the blank filler on the right is now. The seat is powered from the same line that feeds the handgrip warmers, according to the wiring diagram, so there should be no problems. Going by the 08 wiring diagram in the manual, you should have a power wire, probably ltblu/pink going to the seat connector, and probably the switch (but again, I don't have one to look at). There will be two wires coming off that connector that go to the HI/LO seat heaters and switches (power and ground). Tap into the ltblu/pink wire ahead of the connector and run a new wire to the switch center contact. Put two new wires on the end contacts of the switch. The one on the back pin will be hot when the switch is rocked forward, i.e. high position. Run them to a two wire connector from Radio Shack (or maybe a trailer connector set from WalMart). Mount the connector near the old seat connector for convenience. Cut the two wires coming from the ends of the current driver seat switch and splice in new wires to run to the connector. Be sure to insulate the switch wires you cut with end caps or good self sealing electrical tape (not the cheap vinyl kind that falls off in a month). Not having one, again, I'm not sure which is high and the seat isn't on the wiring diagram. If you have a meter, high heat will have the lowest resistance to ground (the black wires, probably). The only drawback is it has a picture of a grip, not a seat on it, but, since you put it in, you'll know which is which. Don't completely disconnect the ltblu/pink wire at the connector; it will still power the passenger seat. If only the other little issues were this easy to fix!
