Posts: 293 Arkansas | Anyone know how hard it is to remove trunk
if you have the CB installed? I haven't yet torn
into it to see if the wire harness can be detached
& left in place in a reasonable manner. Ditto the antenna
cable. Would like to be able to ride w/o trunk even though
would not have use of CB while in "Street" clothes. |

Posts: 550 Tacoma, WA | It is pretty easy to do...You will need to remove the seat, and disconnect the wire harness from the trunk/cb from there. the antenna will not need disconnected, as the cb is inside it. Of course, you will need to remove the four bolts that hold the trunk in place, and remove the other items needed to take the trunk off, like the license plate, and holder. I hope this helps...Metalguy |

Posts: 293 Arkansas | I can't believe i didn't grasp the fact that the antenna was integral with the trunk- a big DUH for me!
Thanks for the help. I think that makes it sound reasonable to do. It will never be as easy as my HD tour pak was, with its detachable hardware, but I'd much rather have this bike and do the extra work to dress it down a bit for my day rides!

Posts: 33 Between Rockford and Sterling Illinois | What is the part #(s) for the body panels to cover up the space where the trunk was located? I don't have my bike yet but that will be one of the first things I do as I don't need the whole caboose to ride to work everyday. Also Hello to everyone. New new to forum and my bike is sitting at Douglas and Frye in Sterling Il. waiting for the snow and salt to go away. |

Posts: 33 Between Rockford and Sterling Illinois | Thanks for the info! I'll add that to the accessorie list while I am still getting a discount. I swore I would never buy a first year bike again or pay MSRP but here I go again. I have a first year VTX1800 that Honda dropped the price on substantially after a year or two. Love the bike but it is not a tourer. I guess now I'll have my hotrod and a tour bike. |
