Last night I went to a local " Thursday bike night" hang out on my new Vision . No one was there that I knew. Strange reactions indeed. Not a big crowd because is was cold but definitely getting a bit of the cold shoulder. When I went inside I was actually worried about my Vision being out there all alone...and lookin so good.
Ironically, it was Sonny Barger (on his Vision) that I met at a rest stop near Sturgis that got me thinking about Vision motorycycles. I was on a street glide at the time.

So last night my new Vision 8 ball parked along a row of Harleys and ape hangers- well, you know what I mean. I am curious about other riders on here and their experience going Vision. Thanks beforehand!!

you've got a Vision 8-ball. please post pics. If I get a free weekend I would certainly ride to WS just to check it out. The dealer says they won't have one until November or so.

I used to feel the same way when I rode my Kawasaki VN2000 to bike nights and park in the Harley section. Funny thing was when I was leaving it always seemed people were standing around checking out my bike. Granted I have done extensive work to it. So when I got my Vision it was the same thing. My Harley buddies just shake their heads when its time to go and they have to wait for me to finish question period with all the admirers.

I think varyder is just SE of Richmond.
I'm in Goldsboro... W-S is what... about 2 1/2 to 3 hours away?

I'd like to see an eightball vision as well... and I'd like to see how well the new radio stacks up to the original.

You are gonna get alot of that from the posers, you know the guys I'm talking about, the ones that walk by and look the other way, the one's that ride past and look the other way etc. etc. etc, guys with insecurity issues.........
Most Harley riders I encounter are ok though, they don't get wrapped up in the rivalry b.s.

The true bikers...they don't care what you ride as long as you're on two wheels. The ones that give you a hard time...just ignore 'em.

I was on my way back to Indiana from the AVR on the interstate. A guy on a very loud Hardly American pulled up next to me, passed me, and stared the whole time. His parting shot was to shake his head, juice the throttle and take off. He had a baseball hat on backwards, tee shirt and jeans. His girlfriend was barely dressed. I just laughed inside. I had over 20K miles on the Vision in less than two years. It'll take him 10 years to put 20K on a bike.

The funny thing is the Harley crowd is a finiky bunch. I took over payments of a Dyna Low Rider when I was much younger (think High School and beginning college). The other Harley owners (HO's for short) acted like I didn't deserve my ride. I was often asked who's bike it was and then pretty much not welcome to ride with the groups. I ended up having to let it go because I couldn't afford to keep up on insurance (imagine that) and didn't really miss her much. I picked up a Virago for cash so I could just keep liability on it. I remember thinking that at least people left me alone on my Virago. No sneers, no implications that I was had no appreciation of riding, etc. Now I'm older, on a different bike and people are inviting me to ride their Harleys. As a status symbol, they have no meaning to me so I don't care. In groups, the HO's tend to be the few that don't appreciate the machine I ride. Honestly, Wing riders tend to be the group that I tend to stand around the fuel pumps, restaraunts and such with. They also tend to be freindlier, have the best stories, tips, tricks and destination recommendations. I wouldn't care to own one for myself but Wings seem to be the best crowd to run into.

I know a few HOs and you can tell I don't fit in. They talk about their breakdowns and how short the rides and how often they have to stop and rest. We have nothing in common...but I don't feel left out. What a HO...

sunburstguitar I was at Cox's H-D today and for the most part, I didn't have any problems out of anyone there. The group I hang out with in Daytona for Bikeweek all ride H-D. We poke fun at each other, but it's all in fun. I live in Salisbury and work in High Point, so maybe we can cross paths some day. ET

I plan on doing a 2 year review here in a few days. Thanks for the kudos on the 10k, I think I did one for the 45k service as well. I figure if the Vision can stand up to me, it can stand up to anybody.
