| OK is there any way to get rid of catalyst and is it part of the reason for engine heat on leg? Seems motor would breath better without restriction from catalyst. |

Rockford, IL | I think Kevin X said this somewhere here or on the VMC forum....not sure. Hope he chimes in on this thread and gives his thoughts on this. Except for the California models the Vision doesn't have catalytic convertors. What they have is an "Exhaust Velocity Device" and while removing this may change the sound of the exhaust it will acutally HURT the overall performance of the bike. |

Reno County, KS | Yes. More so with the cams than without. I can tell you from experience that you lose noticable torque with the cams installed and the baffle restriction removed from the St1 Lvl2. I would think that this would be very similar to punching through the "honeycomb" on a stock exhaust. Before the cams install, I was cruising without baffles for about a month with no real felt difference. After I installed my VFC III and intake I noticed some pickup in torque (I screwed up the settings somehow too). Kevin installed my cams and it made some difference but didn't quite meet our expectations. I reinstalled my St1 Lvl2 exhaust baffles like he recommended and It made a noticable difference right away. I thought I had found the only bike on that really didn't make any additional power with the VM1 cams. I have no idea if it affected the over all HP in the higher RPMS because I have never dyno'd my bike. I'm leaving my exhaust alone now since there is no incentive for me to alter it aside from a little louder bike.

Not as big as Will with his baffles, but you will have a small low end sag. Mosly noticable on low RPM roll on in 6th |

| What about drilling a few holes into it? I talked last year to one of the vision engineers and he reccommended removal of the honey comb?
Kevin, I have the cams, intake and fuel controller but want the deep sound and the torque. Any suggestions |

| Ok I was a little worried after I had drilled one of the honey combs out and read what KevinX had mentioned. I also did some searches last night and messaged with a few who had already removed the honeycomb. Well I put the bike back together tonight and two thumbs up. I drilled 6 holes in the honeycombs about 1/2" each. I have a 08 vision with cams, fuel controller, intake and S1L1 pipes with the core removed. The feel of the power was the same until I looked at the speedometer and gear indicator along with the tach. I would say it was an improvement, in my opinion. The tone will have to be judged by my riding partners, but the sound on a fast down shift was like a semi with a jake brake, I loved it.

New Orleans, La, | I am wondering if the exhaust velocity honeycombs are removed, causing a small lost of torque and h.p., would a device like torque cones restore the deficits and retain the benefits? My understanding of what the cones do and how they work is similar to the honeycombs onlly less restrictive as they are venturi type design. What say you fellow members? |
