Has anyone bought the double-vision V1000 exhaust from Lloydz? I love the look
and wondered how they sound? I wish he had a picture on the triple chrome on his site though.Any comments on this exhaust system or recommendation on other system would be helpful.

These are the pipes from RPWUSA.

If you search for RPUUSA in both Vision-Riders and www.TheVMC.com, you will find more information about them including some sound clips.

Here is a clip on YouTube.

I like the black look, and the sound too. What is the benefit of two into one?

Also, my dealer warned me that I would get popping if I went with louder pipes... any experience out there? I have upgraded pipes that the dealer does himself and they are nice, ( no popping ever and a nice rumble) .. but I want more, but do not want to get the decel pop that I fear.

What is your experience. AND, do these pipes (or whatever you recommend) just bolt on and go?

Do these pipes require remapping and a change in the intake?

Which pipes did you get?  The CycleDragon pipes?  If so, they told me they were going to be working on a 2-into-1 set.

2-into-1's are supposed to produce more power than separates but that all depends on how they have been tuned to a specific model of bike.

The 2-into-1's for the Vision have these advantages:

1)  The black ones are ceramic coated, so you get the thermal advantages of a wrapped pipe without the disadvantages of external cloth.  I do not believe the Chrome versions are ceramic coated =(.

2)  The 2-into-1's eliminate the crossover which heats up the oil filter and oil on the Vision.  If you put the lifetime billet oil filter with heat syncs on the Vision, it should help cool your oil.  With the Vision crossover pipe positioned against half of the oil filter, it ends up heating up the Visions oil.  In short, your engine should run a little cooler without the crossover pipe.

3)  I believe they are a bolt-on application.  You would have to call the manufacturer to see if there are any mods required.

Tim

I spoke with Mike at Cycle Dragon (lead mechanic) and he believes I have the newest version of their pipes which are not tunable. The tunable style were earlier versions where you could remove some of the packing. He says they now use very little packing anyway, so there is no need to tune.

I am very happy with them as they NEVER pop. But I would not mind of they were louder. But to trade loud for pop= nope.

$400 for the trade-in-exchange for the CD pipes. Pretty good deal !

(price may have changed, but that is what it was) They have awesome exchange deals for chrome, painted panels, handles, tip overs and everything!

Great shop and great people, family owned.

I traded in my stock rims, pulley, pulley guard, rear tip-overs, front forks and console for chrome ones from CycleDragon.  Their Salt Water Marine Chromer does great work.  Mike did the exchange for me at my 17,500 mile service in a very timely fashion.  Cudos to Mike and CD !!!

I personally would like "REAL" achievable before and after Dyno plots and numbers from each manufacturer for each part they sell.  I bought the Big Honkers for @ $450 when they came out.  They are loud, but I believe I have lost some low end with them.  I haven't seen any before and after numbers from CD on their pipes.  I hope they publish them with their new pipes and new 2-into-1's.  I would not hesitate to trade my Big Honkers for a good set of 2-into-1's for various reasons.

BTW, I forgot the RPW-USA pipes are supposed to be quite a bit lighter weight than the stock pipes since they do not use the heat shields.

I like those advantages to the 2-into-1 exhaust.
I would like to keep 2 pipe look though, since the design in there.
That could be a nice hanging storage tube. (o:

I put on the RPW Chrome Double Vision Exhaust, Lloydz Fuel Controller and Intake Plate on this Fall. It made a big diffeence in acceleration. Finally I got what I had been looking for. I have a 2007 Hammer and riding the Hammer always makes me think the Vision is sluggish. Now the Hammer is still faster than the Vision (I have a Lloydz Fuel Controller on it, Shotgun pipes and a K&N air filter) but the Vision got a whole lot closer. The Double Vision is loud, though. I actually like that. I had S1L2 mufflers put on my 2008 Vision when I bought it. They were not much louder than the stock mufflers. I then took out the baffles on the S1L2 mufflers based on a thread I read here (I think). I wrapped the baffles on the outside with sheet steel and a whole bunch of clamps and then reinstalled them into the mufflers. It didn't make the exhaust much louder, but did lower the tone to a nice low rumble. My wife liked those mufflers. But, because I am a stupid hammerhead, I wanted louder and faster. The Double Vision did the trick. As a FYI, the stock header pipes on the Vision have catalytic material in them and restrict the exhaust flow quite a bit. From talking with the RPW folks, I understand that the valve size on the 106 engine requires a signficant amount of back pressure to maintain low end torque. The RPW Double Vison pipe between the header and the muffler is internally screened and the muffler is heavily screened to create the right amount of back pressure, since the header pipes are clean and open. I haven't yet put on the fake pipe on the other side and I might not. One of the real advantages on running the "Single" Vision as I have on the bike right now, is that it has to be 50 pounds lighter than the stock header and S1L2 pipes. The stock header with the catalytic material and especially the crossover pipe weigh a ton. The mufflers are not exactly light either. It was real nice to pull all that stuff off the bike and enjoy a much lighter 2:1 exhaust.

I would only recommend the Double Vision for those that want a much louder sounding bike. Don't get me wrong, I love it; but it is not a quiet Touring bike anymore. I still have the modified S1L2 mufflers that I'd love to get rid for a fair price, if anyone is interested.

Depends on what you intend to do with the bike. If you're looking to upgrade the intake/cams/fuel controller etc, then you might have. Ness exhaust sounds real nice but like the above post mentioned, you need some restriction in your exhaust system to develop torque. That being said, his Vision exhaust doesn't seem that bad. The only problem is that they didn't give too much of a damn about the performance of the bike when he built it. That probably wouldn't affect you much if you have no plans to upgrade the performance side of things. Most people buy this bike as a dedicated Tour platform so it probably wouldn't make that much of a difference to them. I have had a really negative experience with Ness stuff in the past but that was unrelated sheet metal parts and it may have gotten better in the last 5 or 6 years. BTW, I personally removed my baffles in my St1 Lvl2 exhaust before all the upgrades. After the upgrades I noticed a difference in performance when I replaced the baffles vice before when it didn't seem to matter one way or the other. That and the dyno's don't lie. These engines NEED restriction. If I had my way I'd have straight pipes just to pi$$ off the cops (I grew up with my local cops so we're on good terms but it sure is fun to mess with them at the station aka donut shop). Unfortunately, she runs like a dog unless she's baffled. Oh well, better to have a sleeper bike than a poser I guess.

FWIW,

I heard that the Victory S1L1 pipes have given the best performance to date with cam/intake plate/VFC3 combo.  This information was gathered before the 2-into-1 pipes were tuned so I don't know if they are better in this application.

You might want to ask Lloydz about which pairing he has found to be the best.

Ness of Las Vegas sells torque cones to address the Big Honkers and Thundersticks, but I have no personal experience with them and others have recommended against them.

Sincerley,

Tim

I just spoke with Ness Vegas and they recommended against torque cones.
What they sell is a Harley cone that has been played with a little bit and they say will do no good in the Vision.
That being said, I love my Honkers. My dealer has a Vision with Lloyds set up like mine.
But he has the S1L2's on his bike. He always stops what he is doing to listen to me leave his shop.
He took mine out last week after giving her an oil change.
He came back with a smile and when I asked if I should change anything,
he just laughed and said she is running hot, don't change a thing.
Hopefully a copy of my dyno gets attached.

How time flies.  Last year they were pushing them like hot cakes.  They didn't make sense to me.  Open up the exhaust so you can restrict it again.  I asked KevinX about them and he did not recommend them.

BTW, your dyno sheet did not appear.

Here is my attempt.

Lloyds cams are worth about 20-22 HP over just the intake and fuel controller, so that should put you around where I was with my honkers.
I am in love with my RPW True Duals on my Kingpin.
I guess I would have to hear and drive a Vision with the 2-1's before before making the switch.

I like anything that Lloyd pushes because it is tried and true but those double vision pipes really do look like they were made for a different bike and then adapted. I hate that gap. I really wish they fit the bike better. It would be a better alternative for me. To each their own. They probably perform better than my S1L2's.

butt ugly.

Why would you put flat black exhaust cans on your bike unless it's flat black?

RPW USA,

Can you please post a dyno sheet with your 2-into-1's with Lloydz Stage 2 CAMS, Intake Plate and VFC3 ?

Thanks,

My thoughts exactly Smitty. I would however like to see the chrome versions on a Vision. I too wish they looked as if they fit the bike better though.
