| Dealer finally got one in and I gave it a once over and a ride. Probably the best observation I could make is if you like the Vic Kingpin but would like a nicer seat and better bags you'll love the CR.
Victory did a nice job setting up all the controls although most folks will want to raise the bars from the factory set position, but they are adjustable. Suspension on the front looks and feels like the KP but they have a nice set of double floaters on the front for braking.
The rear shock is air adjustable and the same as that on the Vision. It provides a nice range of adjustability for whatever load you are carrying.
Saddlebags are big and remove by two clips ala HD. Like all other victory luggage they put a great deal of actual storage space in the lid which makes it useless unless you have bag/trunk liners. They did think ahead and install QD mounts behind the saddlebag mount so adding a passenger backrest or trunk (when it becomes available) will require no extra hardware. Passenger peg are pegs and not boards on the CR but are boards on the CC. Both should have come with boards for the passenger.
The windshield is very low for me but would be about right for anyone 5'9" and below. I take back what I've said about Victory targetting HD for sales. If that was their target group they are going to be VERY disappointed. This bike seems more Yamaha than anything, in lines and such.
The motor is very strong but has a lot more vibration than what I have ever experienced on my Vision. Zero to 60 happens pretty quick so watching ones speed will be a must.
Fit and finish is good, paint is what I'd expect from Victory so it ain't HD quality but good.
Needless to say I won't be trading in my Vision for a CR. When I rode the bike I had the perception I was riding on top of the bike rather than in it. This might have been magnified by the short front and windshield as I had the same perception each time I ride the KP. The bike scoots but the vibration is very noticable to me and it put me off from the start. The seat is very nice and handling seems very responsive. I had this really awkward feel when putting my foot down at stops but more so when I went to put the ole foot back on the left floorboard upon taking off. Probably just a get to know the bike thing but it definitely wasn't natural like on the vision. A lot more cramped than the vision but a nice wide passenger seat for passenger comfort. I like the cable clutch as it is like the KP. It seems to eliminate the really noisy 1st gear engagements noticeable on the Vision.
I'll be taking the CC out in the next week or so and give it a shakedown. I suspect with the fairing in front I'll not feel so on top of the bike. Definitely worth a test ride if you find yourself curious. And I definitely think Vic will pull in some Yamaha riders but probably not many of the folks considering a HD.
If you currently Own & Ride a Vision, this bike has nothing for you

Good run-down Teach. It seems like the bike is still pretty heavy for to be in our class yet not offer as much comfort. If I had to trade off comfort, I'd rather have the KP than CC to begin with. Anyway, keep us posted on this 8 Ball Vision cable. I would love to have the ability to get rid of the harsh 1st gear engagement (and noisy shifting throughout the gears) that riddles these bikes. I've never had a bike before this that you couldn't push around the garage in 1st gear with the clutch pulled (or be able to adjust to do so). The fact that my clutch is not adjustable is a problem in and of itself IMO. Due to wear alone, not every tranny engages at the same point. In the past, if I had to rev the engine to find neutral, it was time to adjust the clutch. Also, what happens to the longevity when the clutch starts to wear? I guess we'll all be buying new plates as there is no adjustment to be had with the hydro clutch. Anyway; before I go too far OT, you brought up something that I've been seriously thinking about every time I get on the bike. Thanks again. I'll look forward to your clutch cable mod and your experience with the CC on the open road.
