I just added the new Infinity 1031t dome tweeters to my Vision and they make a big difference paired with the J&M aftermarket speakers for the Vision. The J&M speakers while they make a huge difference over the stock Vision speakers do not have a tweeter integrated in them so the addition of the Infinity tweeters makes a big difference.

The new Infinity Reference 1031t tweeters replace the KAPPA10.9T tweeters according to the Car Toys rep. The 1031t tweeters are better looking, a little lower profile and their cross over is set for 2.5 kHz instead of 3.5 kHz so they will provide a little more upper midrange. Both are 2 ohm speakers.

The base mounts that come with the tweeters are gray for some reason and I used flat black spray paint to paint them black. I used my dermal tool to cut out a little notch for the speaker cable in the bases and also painted the clear speaker wire black. I used high strength exterior double back tape to mount them to the dash. I spliced the speaker wires for the tweeters on to the factory speaker wires for the front speakers about 1 inch behind the connectors that plug to the rear of the front speakers so I fished the new tweeter speaker wires into the front speaker enclosures through the rubber gourmets. You need to remove the rearview mirrors, front speaker grills and speakers to do this.

Here are some pictures.

Silly question, but I would like to know. Does this "cross over" stop sending the higher pitch to the J&M's, and treat them more like mid-range/Woofers? Or, do all the frequencies still go to the J&M's.

I like what you got going there. Thumbs up.

All the frequencies go to the J&M speakers but only the ones over 2.5 kHz go to the Infinity tweeters.

It is really nice out today and I took the bike out for lunch and got to test the tweeters out really well and WOW what a difference! They work much better than I thought. Huge difference! I stopped by the place I bought them and played them for their install team and they were really impressed. They thought the J&M speakers sounded really good also and liked the combo.

On the issue of them being water proof they are water resistant like the J&M speakers and the stock speakers. The windshield protects them pretty well. I bought them from Car Toys and they said I would have no problem with them getting wet and if I did they would replace them free under the exchange out warranty I bought for them for $20.00 for two years.

Sorry if this is repeating what you said already: Did you just splice these into the speaker cable of the main speakers? That seems too easy... they are "plug and play?" enough to just tap into the speaker wire?

I hope so!

Gee good idea... sounds familiar. I added mine back in August, and the sound is amazing with the J&M speakers. "Plug & play" with the provided cross-overs. I installed mine farther away from the edge (farther under the windshield) to keep them dryer. Mine are the Infinity Kappa 10.9t, also 2 ohm.

Mike thanks for being the pioneer on the Infinity Tweeters!!!! I would have not thought to do this if it wasn’t for you.

The new Infinity 1031t reference tweeters have a little different cross over than the Kappa 10.9t. The cross over is inline in the speaker cable and I just used some double backing tape to fasten them to the top of the headlight housing under the hood. I spliced the speaker cable for the tweeters in to the factory speaker wires about 1 inch behind the connectors that plug into the front speakers. It is that simple but it does take some work to get to the speakers, fish the new speaker wires through the grommet and splice it into the exiting speaker cable.

I may have to do this upgrade this winter, as I am finding the stock speakers particularly lacking.-----Metalguy

I'm near deaf in one ear and can't hear out of the other- so a speaker upgrade was a no-brainer. I put in Alpines and noticed the difference right away- now if I add tweeters, I suspect I'll actually hear music.
