| I rode the Cross Country today, nice bike. I rode the CR a couple weeks back and it was ok but I really didn't like it, perception thing.
Bottom line is it isn't a Vision but it is really nice. Much lighter than the Vision. Probably the best thing about it is I felt as though I had been riding it for a long time. I had no hesitations in tossing it around, locking the forks to the stops, etc... and it is very quick and nimble.
For anyone who rides a Vision you'd want to add a taller windshield, rider and passenger backrest w/luggage rack, and some heated grips. At that point it would be road worthy for trip taking.
And one final observation: The hwy bars look a little odd in the pictures, BUT when you see the bike in person the engineers designed them to sweep forward following the lines of the bike and they look really nice. They also sweep slightly forward which seems to give the feet a little more room as compared to the CR w/round hwy bars.
Definitely worth checking out and I believe it will sell big time for Victory.

| I recently test rode both the CrossCountry and the Vision.
Some friends and I went to the dlr with the single intention of checking out the CrossCountry.
We've never considered, let alone seen, a Vision before.
So- my impression of the CrossCountry...
It was nice. Light-feeling. Great style. Handling was nice. Nothing to fault, really.
Except...
Turbulence.
This (in my opinion) is the single-most annoying thing that I have been experiencing on so-called touring/comfort bikes lately.
Not really a brand-related thing (H-D vs. Victory vs. Honda etc...).
I owned a H-D FXDX-T with the fairing/adj windscreen.
Terrible turbulence.
My best bud has a Street Glide.
After trying it with a few different types of screens, the turbulence is still there.
Same thing with an Ultra and a Road Glide I've ridden.
For Euro flavor, I had a M-G California (touring version that looks like a police bike).
Turbulence!
Bottom line: the bikes all have something in common (Cross Country included)-
Their fairings' bottom edge is at about the level of the gas tanks.
The wind that passes around the sides of the forks comes past,
then comes up to the cockpit, meets the low-pressure air,
then we now have swishy, swashy, vortexy, turbulent stuff happening all over the place.
...So, I come back to the dlr, and park the bike (the Cross Country).
"So?? Whaddja think????", he says.
I reply, "Nice...really nice, but,, the turbulence was annoying."
My heart was kinda crushed, really.
I wanted/expected a much dreamier ride.
The dlr says, "Hey, have you ever ridden a Vision?"
So he rolls one out for me, and off I went.
My impression:
I think it is a weird-looking bike.
But it works wonderfully.
I was surprised. Blown-away, really.
My ride was so relaxing, I was in such a buffet-free zone of air, I couldn't believe it.
The fairing design is what it's all about.
It needs that huge, crazy-looking fairing to block that wind- high AND low.
It punches a hole in the windblast that keeps the rider in a low-pressure "pocket".
This is what I've been looking for for a long time.
Style only goes so far.
Why do I want a Road Glide? Because I love the style.
Will I get one?
Probably not, because I will hate it, because its fairing won't really do anything but create turbulence for me.
And I DON'T want to buy and try 8 different windscreens, add fork "fangs"
and all sorts of other shit to experiment with eliminating the turbulence.
When you add all that crap, the front of the bike ends up looking retarded, anyway.
So- looks like the Vision will be my next bike.
The ride was that impressive.
Would I ever get over the controversial styling?
Perhaps after staring at at it and walking around it a bunch of times,
while it sits there in my garage...
So, there's my opinion.
CrossCountry, cool bike. Excellent style. Stress-inducung turbulence.
The Vision? A bike that relaxes me, relieves my stress, and makes me want to ride more & more.
Hope to be able to secure one, then post some pics for you guys one day over the next few months...

| I test rode the Cross Country today at the Long Beach IMS show. Was a nice nimble ride. Not as much wind protection as the Vision, but would be a nice addition to the stable. Next to the Vision truck was the T-Rex truck. These 2-seater 1,400cc RaceReady 3 wheelers look like they would be a lot of fun.
We also got some good prices on a pair of Red Carbon Fiber FS-15 HJC helmets which should match our midnight Cherry Vision.

Posts: 1158 Richmond, Virginia | Point of view on styling. You have to move aside that portion of your brain that has told you that bikes have to look the exact same way for 100 years. Because something looks "different" doesnt make it bad, wrong, or unacceptable. People who look at the Vision and only see "it doesnt look like all the other bikes" are missing the point. ITS NOT SUPPOSED TO. Think outside the box, just as its designers did. If there is no change to anything, then each one of us would have a car in our garage that resembled the original Model T,
and you would all still be crank starting the engine like a wind up toy.. Im not slamming guys on here just because it raises their eyebrow. Im simply offering a behavioral therapists point of view that, NEW and DIFFERENT is a natural process. If it were not for NEW
and Different, we wouldnt all be living how we are now. .... so enjoy that central heat, airconditioning, hot water, computer, dildoe,
and toaster oven. Look at the Vision BECAUSE IT DOES NOT LOOK LIKE YEARS OF HISTORY PAST.

| Yes, I see your point.
Interesting, I see some similarities between the Vision and the newest generation Hayabusa. Vespa scooters even...
The streamlined, tapering, flowing look.
As opposed to the edged, boxed, or cut look.

Posts: 520 Simi Valley, CA | I rode the new Cross Roads the show in Long Beach on Saturday- very smooth, light and easy to handle. My wife also rode one and she loved the handling as well. It was an 11 mile ride, we got them up to about 60 mph.... We both liked them, but I am keeping my Vision and she is keeping her Vegas, for now....

Posts: 8144 New Bohemia, VA | The styling thing is a perk to me on the Vision, I love the flow and the lines, and I'm not afraid of being different as most can tell. But the bottom-line for the bottom is the ride. IF anything else would have rode as good as the Vision does, I would get it. And again, I go back two years and my first review of the Vision was that it was personally made for me. I believe the styling is a result of the engineering aspect. If you look at the Cross bikes (thought I was going to say cross-dressers, didn't you) up close, you will see some of the stuff that is hidden on the vision, especially around the neck. I know the engineers struggled making the cross-bikes look "Victory" and use the Core/Vision technology to make it work. I will hand it to them, they did a fine job, and hope they get a good following...

Vision Rider's question. If you had a choice of XCountry to Vision do you think you would rather have a Vision for all of its features?

| Vision hands down. Love all my options.
The idea of building an HD clone to bring in HD guys, just doesn't sit right with me.
You go from the very different Vision to a bike that blends in with all the others, not very forward thinking to me.
Plus the Cross Country looks good stock, but that tall windshield is nasty.
