Posts: 74 Winston-Salem, NC | Here is an interesting thing about the transition from HD to Vision. I want to ride in the winter!
I have decided to get the Tourmaster heated gear but am not clear on how to hook up the stuff (jacket/pant liners and gloves) on the vision 8-ball. There is a plug inside the glove box. Any suggestions would be helpful. I cannot say enough about how helpful this forum has been in making the difficult transition away from HD (all I have ever known) to the Vision. Thanks to all! |

My Vision tour Premium was PRE WIRED for a powerlet underneath the console..> I bought the powerlet kit from my Victory dealer and installed it in less than 30 mintues...Makes for plugging up my heated clothes REAL easy as the plug is right there between your legs |

Posts: 460 Centennial, CO | There are a few ways to hook this up. The plug inside the glove box is NOT where you want to plug it in. That is for "other" things like iPods and such.
If you go to the Victory dealer, you can pay too much for a plug. OR, you can go here:
http://www.powerletproducts.com/
There are a number of ways to get the plug unit to work near the console. Either you can just plug it in underneath the console OR you can get the template, drill out the hole for it and mount it just under your stereo controls.
My suggestion is simple. If you are not planning to run a CB unit and you will NOT have the plug for it mounted (because you won't have a CB), remove the console, plug in the unit and run it down and to somewhere you can get to it and plug in. Otherwise, if you have or plan to have a CB, drill it out and it will look as though it was always meant to be there.
If you get the powerlet from powerlet, you will have more versatility than just going with the coax...but this is a subjective thing.
Good luck!
OH...I might mention that I am not sure what cable you will need...but this is the exact same thing as pictured on purepolaris for a whole lot less...

I am sure someone else can put the final specifics on it!

Posts: 460 Centennial, CO | I got thinking about this on the way in to work. Many people have said this is already pre-wired. If that is the case, all you need is the plug for 18 bucks. You'll need the female end. You will also need to purchase an adapter to get to the coax connector for your clothes. I use my secondary plug for my battery tender. Makes it much easier than trying to get under that damned front wheel (hence the reason for the female (versatility)). I don't have heated clothes (YET!). |

Posts: 1632 Jasper, MO | Last year I used the outlet in the glove box for my gear, and the one in the trunk for my wife's gear. I just purchased two 2 foot extension cords and ran mine under the console, and hers under the seat, then plugged our portable contollers into them. Worked great. This year, I decided I wanted permanently mounted controllers on the Vision and put mine in the center console and hers in the rightside armrest. I just wired the controllers into the power taps that are already installed on the Vision that are meant for the extra Powerlet outlets. It works great and looks factory installed, plus it eliminated having to find a place to put the portable controllers. Just sit down, plug in, and ride in warmth.

Ronnie Can you post pictures of the controls in the console??? I have thought about doing this as well, just didn't know where to put them to allow enough room UNDER the console for the proepr fit!! Or e-mail them to me..

Posts: 79 Austin, Texas | I've been using First Gear insulated coveralls. Wearing hospital scrubs under it, with good boots and gloves, I am very comfortable in the current 30 degree weather if I turn on the heated grips. I've not tried the heated clothes, but in my daily commute (28 miles each way) the temps even down to 26 haven't even phased me. My 2 cents worth. |

| Reviving this thread, I too need to find a convenient method to wire up my Tourmaster (buying Gerbing sometime in the future) gear... I don't want to get a cig -> rca adapter plug for the glovebox, I would rather have a more accessible solution. I have had the console off a few times for other reasons, and have never noticed any unused plugs under it, other than for the Garmin 660 gps, which I am using. Can someone tell me where this unused Powerlet plug is exactly (under the console) and what it looks like? A picture would be awesome of both under the console pointing out the plug, as well as connector mount locations IN the console or cover plate....
Thank you! |

Posts: 261 Sugar Land, TX (Outside of Houston) | The Powerlet Plug connection under the console is not an actual "Powerlet Plug". It is a connector that allows you to plug the Powerlet adapter into to mount in the console. It is located down near the bottom of the console near the seat. You may even be able to see or get to it by just taking off the painted triangle cover plate next to the seat.
I bought the Powerlet Plug for installation in the console and it was a breeze to install.
I suppose you could just plug it into the connector and leave it under the Triangle shaped cover plate for use.
One thing I do (to protect the paint with swinging cords) is from the console plug, I plug in the adapter into the console outlet and run the power cable under the Console Cover (Triangle Piece) and out the side of the bike. That way I don't have cords swinging in the wind scratching up the paint.

Posts: 1117 Northeast Ohio | I am curious for those that used the Powerlet connections - Have you had any problems with this setup? Those wires looked awful small to me to put the kind of load heated clothes require.
I hardwired mine straight to the battery and split the connection for me and my wife. I used the factory Gerbing plugs at the split and some heavy gauge wire to the battery. |

Posts: 444 Bay of Gigs, WA | To hook up my Gerbing gear for my wife and I, I hooked directly into the battery, and used small black tie-wraps to run the cords up along the underside of the "tank" on the left. There's a ridge, or ledge under there big enough for the plugs to lay on, up and out of sight just above the triangular "106" emblem. When I need them in the winter, I just reach under there and pull them out and they're ready to plug our coats into, one for her, one for me. I bought an extension so hers would reach back to her over my knee and not scratch the paint or anything. The plugs came with a watertight cap, so they remain dirt free when not in use, and invisible, too, when tucked away.
The Gerbing foul weather coats we bought are the serious ones for cold, good enough on their own for many cold days, but when the gloves and they are on, it's like sitting in front of a window with the sun warming your back, and the back of your hands. Very neat! They have armor in them, too. |

I used the factory Gerbing plugs at the split and some heavy gauge wire to the battery. I have the powerlet plugs on the front and back as per victory's design. There is a harness plug in front and back areas for this. We use 90watt heated jackets and gloves and the system works fine. This is the way it was designed to work. No need to go direct to battery or anything special like that. I will attach a pic later for reference. The powerlet on the front is the flip cover to the lower left of the console. The knob to the right of it is the optional temp control from powerlet. The push button below is my garage door opener control. In the second pic this is the same powerlet setup on the right rear speaker cover for the passenger. The harness plug for this setup is under the seat on the harness back under the right speaker. This was a very easy and effective way to set up a system with mounted heat controls.

| Wow, finally someone posted something I could look at! Thank you! Now, to see if there is a hidden connector on my 2011 to use under the panel or console... that is my only question. Guessing I have to order the powerlet or rca adapter from Victory? |

Posts: 492 Indianapolis, IN | You are correct both times. There should be a small two terminal grey female plug under the trim panel in front of the seat. It matches the powerlet plug. Also there is one under and behind the seat tied up to the harness that goes into the trunk. This one is for the passenger plug and is live always, can be used for a battery maintainer plug also through the powerlet receptical. This is one of the easiest and most practical add-ons you can make to this bike. And you will never skip riding again because of cold temps. |

I have searched high and low and cannot locate the above mentioned grey female plug.... any chance someone can take a pic and / or tell me which wire harness / bundle it splits off from so I can try to trace it back from there?

| DO NOT hock up to glove box!!
If it pops open at the wrong time the bottom of your master cylinder will catch it and brake it or make you lose control. |

| Next question... how would one wire up the remote dual heat controller from Gerbing utilizing the single powerlet port? I don't have one, yet, so I have no idea how it's wires are laid out... Ideally, I would like a single powerlet port on my dash as in the picture above, but with both controls mounted for separate control of gloves and liner.
Thanks! |

Posts: 88 Nova Scotia , Canada | When you lift up the triangular cover, the plug may not be visible, when I hooked up my warm & Safe system to my 2011, I had to remove the rear screws out of the radio console, and lift the rear portion of the radio console up to find the grey plug, I then just shoved it down so that is was located under the triangular access panel in front of the seat. I wired the fused harness which came with the heated gear into the plug and ran the wire out to the side of the panel next to the seat. In the summer I will just remove the access panel and coil up the wire and replace the cover.
The beauty of the Warm & Safe system is that the controllers are remote control (wireless) so they can be mounted to the handle bars, jacket zipper or wherever else you may want to place them.
I gave them a call prior to ordering the gear and they spent almost an hour discussing their gear how it works best and how to integrate their system with the Gerbings system my wife has for her bike(Gerbing jacket and gloves, Warm and Safe pants). She now has the duel system remote controllers mounted to her 2010 kingpin handlebars next to the cruse control module, and I have a complete set for the vision (jacket pants and gloves). They also offer a 20% discount as well.

| I was thinking I would probably just go with the Wireless Remote control, probably velcro it on the brake or clutch reservoir. I already have the Powerlet plug ready to install.... I think I will do that, as it's easier to use one hand to plug that in, than to use two to reach down and plug the two rca connectors together.
Other than the wireless remote control setup, I see no clean way to hard mount the dual controller assembly without having to also install two separate hard mounted powerlet receptacles. With the two rotary knobs & two powerlet plugs, it might make that little area at the bottom of the console look kinda busy.
I'm looking at the Powerlet RapidFire heated clothing (and controllers). I know they are made by WarmnSafe, but I think there's some subtle differences.... at a minimum, the pics on Powerlet's site make their stuff look a lot nicer than the pics on the the warmnsafe site.
