Why would anyone want to ruin a perfectly good bike with with a rediculous looking set of ape hangers? If someone did please post a picture...........I have got to see it. (kinda of like not being able to look away from a bad accident)

I am old enough to be around when ape hangers were popular the first time around. There come back has been a bit confusing, kind of like mom saying "just because everyone else is jumping off a cliff is that any reason for you to follow them."

I'm guessing someone who likes the riding postition. Just because you don't like them doesn't mean everyone feels the same way. Have a little consideration.

Just my 2¢, riding with apes is like driving with the parking brake engaged.

I completely agree. How many folks here get their cranks in a knot whenever there's some supposed slight from the HD crowd? And yet how many here cop the same kind of elitist attitude and start slinging all the snide, shitty comments at other brand-owners and even our own Vision-riding brethren that just want to make their bikes completely their own with a little customization? If it's not for you, that's perfectly fine, but don't jump in someone's thread and start crappin' in their cornflakes.

How about instead of loudly proclaiming our supposed superiority over every other bike and ragging on people that ruin their "works of art" by doing anything other than keeping it bone stock, we simply embrace them as two-wheeled kindred souls?

Rebel - Simmer down now...........my comment was not meant to be a personal attack at you or any other lover of apes. I personally think they look OK on some bikes ...............but on a Vision??? Surely the good taste police would have to jail anyone that put apes on a Vision wouldn't they? It's not about the bike being a Victory or Harley or anything else for that matter. Apes on a Vision would be like putting a bat wing fairing on Kawasaki Ninja. Now if you love apes enough to put them on a Vision, I say go for it!! Put them on and ride it proudly all over the country!! I believe each to their own and I don't begrudge anybody that makes their bike their own. But when it's all said and done don't be surprised if the average Joe looks at you funny when your ape slinging Vision pulls into the parking lot.

I could see some mild apes on a Street.  Not sure how they would look on a Tour.  I've heard some guys need them because of shoulder issues.  Some just like the looks.  No big deal.

I would like to see the guy who just finished a 12 hour ride with his arms over his head - now THAT would be funny as hell.
Some bikes are designed solely to get a mass of tatoos from one bar to the next - good for them, if that's what riding is to them.
Forums are created so folks can express their view of things - NOT JUST TO AGREE WITH EACH OTHER !
That's why so many of us are customizing our rides - to express our individuality. To be different. And 'apes' are an extreme statement of personal taste. Too extreme for me....

I ride two bikes with Apes. Neither of them looks like that abortion. Personnal depending on the bike, apes are very comfortable and handle just fine thank you. The only reason I wouldn't think of putting apes on my Vision is because my hands would be out in the cold air in the winter.

to each his own, but id have to laugh my ass off if i saw ya on one.......

Trouble with comprehension eh?

Lemme clarify...........

Just my 2¢, riding (a bike) with apes is like driving (a car) with the parking brake engaged.
(too much drag).
