First of all, I have to commend Eric Buell for having the nuts to begin making the bike in the first place, but the reason H-D dumped it is because Buell got greedy and sold it to H-D, who took it away from the original concept, plus the fact the Buell was a pile of dog crap. It couldn't compete with Jap crap, it couldn't compete with Ducati or MV, and even with the latest version it rattles, vibrates excessively, and isn't near the bike of any of those mentiioned above.

As for MV, as a guy who owns one of the last made before H-D bought the brand (mine is 1 of 25 in the US and 1 of 50 in the world), the only advantage H-D brought to Agusta is a small cash infusion which allows the company to remain open today.

And a huge part of the problem (not to start another thread that will get locked) is not the H-D union, but as I stated the bike simply couldn't compete on the open marketplace.

Buell killed his own baby.

I had a Lightning. Quite enjoyed the bike and thought that went into the design. It's a shame.
